The Bajaj Pulsar 220 can be acknowledged of being the first affordable performance bike for the masses. With its sporty styling and long list of segment features, the Bajaj Pulsar 220 was an instant hit among the performance starved Indian bikers and despite being present for close to a decade on sale it still remains a popular motorcycle despite the new crop of competitors. With its quarter fairing and the vertically twin headlamps, the Pulsar 220 still remains an attractive looking motorcycle. The exhaust muffler gets a matte black finish and there are reflective tape on the rims to visually distinguish the new motorcycle from its predecessor. The instrument cluster now gets faux carbon fibre surrounds and the display backlit is now blue as opposed to amber in the older model. 

No mechanical changes have been made on the BS-IV emission compliant motor and the 220cc, single-cylinder, DTS-i motor delivers 21PS and 19Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to a 5-speed gearbox while braking is done by disc brakes on both ends. The Bajaj Pulsar 220F still remains an awesome value for money proposition at Rs 1,38,560 (ex-showroom Delhi). It is the overall package, not just the aggressive pricing, that has made the Bajaj Pulsar 220F a legend in the Indian two-wheeler space. And despite its age, it makes a strong case for itself to a buyer looking for an affordable, fast and cheap to maintain entry-level performance motorcycle.

Bajaj Pulsar 220F is equipped with a semi-fairing that gives it a good look and amazing aerodynamics. The front profile of the bike is furnished with a dual projector headlamp and a black colored visor that incorporates twin rear view mirrors with it. The instrument cluster of the bike is easy to rear and informative that consists of a digital speedometer, trip meter, odometer, fuel gauge and an analogue tachometer. The clip-on handlebar employs a pass switch, electric start, engine kill switch and self-cancelling blinkers. The bike has also been provided with a sharply crafted fuel tank of 15 liters that ensures long distance ride without any halt and returns a decent amount of mileage of 35 kmpl. Furthermore, the bike house a well-padded sporty split seats that provide a high-end comfort level to the rider as well as the pillion. Talking about the rear, the comes with a split rear grab rails and an ultra-stylish LED tail lamp just below it. The rear fender of the bike features a clear lens turn indicators and number plate section.

Bolted on a Double cradle down tube frame, Pulsar 220F has an overall body dimension of 2035 mm in length, 750 mm in width, 1165 mm in height along with a wheelbase of 1350 mm that gives it an indispensable appearance on the street. Bajaj Pulsar 220F is propelled by a 220cc, 4-stroke, DTS-i, oil cooled, single cylinder engine that comes coupled to a five-speed transmission system. The mill is tuned to develops a maximum power of 20.8 Bhp @ 8500 rpm along with a peak torque of 19.12 Nm @ 7000 rpm that makes it the most powerful bike in its category. The powerful motor uses wet multiplate clutch assembly to transmits the power to the rear wheel and Digital Twin Spark Ignition (DTS-i) as its ignition system. It has power oriented bore x stroke ratio of 67 mm x 62.4 mm. With this arrangement, the bike can sprint 0-60 kmph in just 3.80 secs and can hit a top speed of 144 kmph.

Pulsar 220F runs on 90/90 - 17 front and 120/80 - 17 rear broad tubeless tyres that are further mounted over strengthened 5 spoke alloy wheels. The braking duties are taken care of by a 260 mm disc brake at the front and 230 mm disc brake at the rear that provide enough stopping power to the wheels. Forbye, the suspension system comprises of Telescopic, with anti-friction bush at the front and 5 way adjustable, Nitrox shock absorber at the rear that ensures smooth and comfortable on any terrains.

The Bajaj Pulsar 220 F has a slightly sporty riding position, featuring clip-on handlebars and slightly rear-set footpegs. That said, the riding posture for most will be fairly upright. This setup ensures comfort, further supported by a plush seat and a soft suspension system.

The bike is equipped with a 55W, Ellipsoidal projector headlight that gives a wider beam for better low light visibility. The tubeless tyres have a good grip on the road and do not deflect suddenly in the case of a puncture.
