The 250cc segment is becoming one of the most important segment in the Indian two wheeler market and all the auto majors across the world are eyeing on the market with there entry level performance bikes. The South Korean superbike manufacturer is also planning to get a big share from the segment in India.
DSK Hyosung was already selling the world class faired 250cc bike- GT250R in India and recently launched a 250cc cruiser- Aquila GV250. Now the company is further going to concentrate the segement with 2 or more affordable products soon. The first will be the 250cc naked sport bike- GD250N, which will be launched by the second quarter of 2014 at a price around 1.45 lakh. Following the bike, its faired version will be launched sometimes after that and priced a little higher than the naked version.
Hyosung GD250N will sport a new 249cc, liquid cooled, 4-valve, single cylinder, which churns out 28Bhp of maximum power along with a peak torque of 24Nm. The bike will get many advance safety and convinience technologies including fully digital console, front and rear disc brakes, split seat, wide tubeless tyres, single-shock suspension with aluminium swing arm at the rear, inverted telescopic forks at the front and many more.
These bikes will open the opportunities for the brand to come in the reach of buyers of sub-2 lakh category. The company is also planning to launch GT250 Comet, another naked quarter litre bike, but with a V-twin. However, we don't know the exact launch period and price of the bike. The company might also bring the on/off road bike with 250cc single- RT250D, which could be launch by early 2015.
DSK hyosung is also working on a new 125cc premium commuter, which will be produced locally in India. However, the company will surely make the biggest portfolio of quarter litre bikes in India, which might be a key to the succes for the brand.
