These superlight e-motorcycles will be meeting FAME-2 regulations
LML is a name that many 90s kids might remember fondly, but the now virtually non-existent two-wheeler brand is ready for another stint, this time around as an electric bike builder with eROCKIT. The German EV maker and LML Electric have signed a Letter Of Intent to make the former’s e-bike in India, or rather an Indianised version of the eROCKIT e-bike.

The ubiquitous electric motorcycle/bike is quite a unique creation. The company calls it a hyper human hybrid as unlike regular e-bikes, the eROCKIT is a barebones pedal-powered e-bike that can reach a top speed of 90kmph. Just look at it! It is just a bicycle frame with batteries located within the forward triangle.
It is quite commendable how eROCKIT have managed to package the 6.6kWh battery there, which allows the bike to go 120km on a single charge.
What does dampen its chances of success in India is that in its current iteration it is a motorcycle for a solo rider only. For India, it will need to be a bit more versatile, a bit more convenient and even a bit more conventional in its appeal. Will we see these changes? While there is no timeline set as yet, we think that in a year or two’s time these changes should be possible.
