Suzuki Gixxer SF : Expert Review

Published On May 4, 2015 By Akshit Juneja for Suzuki Gixxer SF (2015-2018)

The pros: Looks are similar to the successful Gixer, efficient engine, precise gearbox, stable at high speeds, can go upto  kmpl.

The cons: The bike is similar to its previous model Gixxer in every field, except SF gets a bigger cowl, there is nothing sporty in it.

The crux: Sparing some minor flaws the Gixxer SF has good ergonomics, ride, suspension and quality. It is full-faired motorcycles with limited budget.

Rating

Gixxer arrived as a fate-changer for Suzuki India, and after trying my hands over its fully-faired SF derivative, I must say that they have churned out another success story. As the name suggests, this motorcycle is based on the hugely-successful Gixxer, while it’s ‘SF’ suffix stands for Sport Fairing.

With me tucked behind the new front fairing, which actually offered decent wind protection, worked well in maintaining three digit speeds. It also helped in achieving better top speed than its naked twin, and I was able to clock 130 kmph on the speedo, with more to go.

The riding triangle of the SF is similar to the Gixxer, with slightly rear-set foot pegs that gives it a sporty feel. I’ve always liked the handling and cornering abilities of the Gixxer, and the SF is no different. The SF negotiates corners fantastically, all thanks to grippy MRF tyres. Though the motorcycle feels stable at high speeds, the engine sounds stressed at these points, which can be irritating on longer runs.
