Bajaj Platina 110

The Bajaj Platina 110 is a straightforward commuter bike, which comes with a simple yet sporty design and a 115.45cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled DTS-i engine.

The Platina 110 gets a simple commuter design, prioritizing function over form. It has a long ribbed seat and its design includes a basic bikini fairing with an LED DRL. The fuel tank and side panels maintain a sleek, straightforward look. In the ABS version, the bike even gets a digital display. 

Despite what its name suggests, the Platina 110 actually packs a 115cc engine. This air-cooled, single-cylinder powerhouse produces 8.6PS and an impressive 9.81Nm of torque. With its shorter gearing in the initial gears, the Platina excels in low-speed performance compared to the Radeon. This enhances its tractability and roll-on acceleration figures.

In the city, you can comfortably ride in 4th gear and can do speeds as low as 35kmph in 5th gear if needed. That said, the 4th gear is the sweet spot for urban riding. That very nature means the Platina 110 has better fuel economy than its rivals. What makes things even more impressive is this 110cc unit’s refinement. On the highway, thanks to the tall 5th gear, you can maintain 70kmph with the engine running quite smoothly.

Even though it's one of the heavier 110cc bikes, the Platina maintains a nimble feel. It's a breeze to maneuver within the city, thanks to its small turning radius. 

The Platina gets a telescopic fork and twin gas-charged rear shock absorbers. These are adjusted with two-up riding in mind, so when you're riding solo, you might experience a bit of jolt when encountering sharp bumps and potholes. That said, the ride quality improves with a pillion on board.

The Bajaj Platina 110 packs quite some features for a 110cc bike. It has a semi-digital instrument cluster which shows the speedometer, odometer, fuel level, gear position indicator, shift light and other important information. It even gets handguards.

Thanks to the fifth gear, the bike operates smoothly on the highway. The cushioned seat enhances comfort during long rides. And it’s no slouch in the city either, as the Platina delivers good performance in lower gears, making overtaking a breeze. What's especially appealing is the excellent mileage it offers. The drum brake variant is priced at Rs 71,354 (ex-showroom Delhi).
