Benelli Imperiale 400

Benelli India has announced a price cut of Rs 10,000 for the Imperiale 400 bringing the cost of the bike down to Rs 1.89 lakh (ex-showroom). The price is also uniform across all colour schemes: silver, red and black.  

Benelli had earlier launched the Imperiale 400 Retro Edition in Thailand which featured a smoked fly-screen and fork gaiters. The model had a limited run of just 100 units. Expect the bike maker to launch the same accessorised version of the Imperiale 400 in India sometime in the future.

The Imperiale 400 BS6 is now priced at Rs 1.89 lakh (ex-showroom, India). That’s a price drop of Rs 10,000 over the previous asking price. 

Benelli Imperiale 400 BS6 Features:

Other than the BS6 engine update, the Imperiale 400 remains cosmetically unchanged. Being an old-school retro bike, the Imperiale gets basic features like a halogen headlamp and bulb-type tail lamp and turn indicators. It gets a retro-looking twin-pod instrument console which gets a digital insert for the fuel gauge and odometer. 

Benelli Imperiale 400 BS6 Engine:

The Imperiale 400 BS6 now gets an updated BS6-compliant 374cc air-cooled and fuel-injected single-cylinder motor. The power output remains unchanged at 21PS and 29Nm. However, peak power comes in at 6000rpm, 500rom higher than before while peak torque is now available at 3500rpm, 1000rpm lower than before. It continues to use a 5-speed gearbox. 

Benelli Imperiale 400 BS6 Suspension & Brakes:

The Imperiale 400 BS6 remains mechanically unchanged. It continues to use the same telescopic forks and dual shock absorber suspension setup. Wheels remain the same 19-inch front/ 18-inch rear with tube-type tyres while braking setup includes a 300mm front disc and 240mm rear disc brake with dual-channel ABS. Despite the updated engine and addition of a catalytic converter, kerb weight remains the same 205kg. 

Benelli Imperiale 400 BS6 Rivals:

The Benelli Imperiale 400 BS6’s primary rivals are other retro bikes like the Jawa BS6 and the 2021 Royal Enfield Classic 350. Price-wise, it competes with other motorcycles such as the KTM 250 Duke, Royal Enfield Himalayan, KTM RC200, Bajaj Dominar 400, new Honda H'ness CB350, and the upcoming Royal Enfield Meteor 350.
