From teasers, to spy shots, to battery details, here's everything you need to know ahead of Hero's first electric scooter launch

[Update: The Hero Vida V1 electric scooter has been launched in India. For pricing, features and other details, take a look at the launch report.]

Hero MotoCorp has been working on entering the EV space for some time now. From forming strategic alliances with Bharat Petroleum (BPCL) for a wider battery-swapping network to establishing Vida, a subsidiary brand which will exclusively retail its EVs, it’s been keeping busy. And in a few days (October 7th) it’s all set to unveil its first e-scooter. Here’s a summary of everything we currently know about the upcoming EV.

It recently teased the silhouette of the e-scooter while announcing the launch date and it looks similar to the Gogoro S1 e-scooters. Gogoro is a Taiwanese EV company which has also developed a battery-swapping tech. Here’s what you can expect from the upcoming e-scooter.

Then came another breaking news which revealed that the upcoming Hero Vida e-Scooter will in fact get Gogoro’s swappable battery-tech confirming our hunch. This also ties in well with the BPCL partnership because battery swapping at places as widespread as BP petrol pumps will undoubtedly increase the chances of EV adoption thanks to how convenient it is.

Then, a very familiar looking e-scooter test mule was spied. And given the similarity of the test bikee’s rear section to the Vida e-scooter. Hero could be concluding the final rounds of testing of its first e-scooter ahead of its festive season launch.

Hero has also been building up the hype for the Vida and set up an advertisement installation in Cyber Hub in Gurugram. The glass installation was filled with actual parts and prototypes which were put to the test to bring the upcoming e-scooter up to its final production form.

Having a manufacturer like Hero MotoCorp – regarded as the world’s largest bikemaker– entering the EV game certainly has its benefits. It can take budding tech like EVs to make it more accessible and well distributed across markets, while maintaining an uncompromising check on the quality.
