TVS has started the Responsible Manhole Cover initiative in Bengaluru
Lately, monsoons have caused real havoc on Indian roads, especially with the flooding of roads, causing harm to daily commuters. In all of this, TVS Motor Company has taken the initiative to make Indian roads safer with the TVS Responsible Manhole Cover. The initiative first took place in Mumbai in 2022, and this time around TVS is making Bengaluru roads safer as well.
What is the TVS Responsible Manhole Cover?
The TVS Responsible Manhole Cover is basically an innovative device that is installed under the manholes, in flood-prone areas. Whenever the area is flooded and the manhole comes ajar, the device uses buoyancy and floats up the water level.

How is it useful?
Once the device rises above the water and gets activated, it can alert the commuters of the open manhole via LED flashers and a buzzer. The device can also notify the local municipal authorities of the open manhole to take necessary action.
Apart from this, TVS has also made the device source code open for all, allowing others to make use of this technology. Summing up, the initiative seems to be a really useful and helpful one, especially considering the recent unpredictable rains due to climate change. That said, we hope the authorities take action once the device alerts them, which can save a lot of lives.
