The upcoming Yamaha scooter will be priced at around Rs 1.25 lakh
Thanks to the recently leaked documents, we’ve learnt that Yamaha is set to bring the Aerox 155 to India. It’ll probably be the Japanese brand’s most expensive scooter offering for the country and will rival the Aprilia SR 160. So, we’ve pitted the two sporty scooters in pictures and here are the results.
Both the scooters get an apron mounted split headlight unit, although the Yamaha Aerox 155 looks much more aggressive. Its fascia seems notably wider than that of the Aprilia SR 160.

The Aerox 155’s bodywork too looks much more muscular and beefy as compared to the SR 160’s slim design.
Yamaha has powered the Aerox 155 by the sourced liquid-cooled 155cc single-cylinder engine. However, it’s detuned and makes 14.95PS. On the other hand, the SR 160 employs a 160cc air-cooled motor that belts out 11.01PS and 11.6Nm. As per the leaked documents, the Aerox 155’s motor will be manufactured by Yamaha Indonesia and the scooter is expected to make its way to India via the CKD route.
Feature-wise, the Japanese 155cc scooter gets LED illumination, a fully digital instrument cluster and provisions for smartphone connectivity too. Meanwhile, the Aprilia SR 160 is pretty plain-jane and gets a semi-digital instrument cluster with no connectivity features.
The Aerox 155 is sprung on a telescopic fork and twin rear shocks whereas the Aprilia SR 160 gets a telescopic fork and single rear shock.
Braking hardware for the Yamaha scooter consists of a front disc and a rear drum brake. The Italian scooter gets disc brakes at both ends with single-channel ABS as standard.
Both the scooters roll on 14-inch alloys.
The Yamaha Aerox 155 gets a 5.5-litre fuel tank whereas the Aprilia SR 160 gets a 6-litre fuel tank capacity.
Expect Yamaha to price the Aerox 155 at around Rs 1.25 (ex-showroom) which is around Rs 17,000 more than the Aprilia SR 160, priced at Rs 1.08 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
