Yamaha is all set to launch its first neo-retro offering, the Yamaha FZ-X, today. The launch event will be held online, so stay tuned to this space for all the latest updates. Yamaha is likely to price the motorcycle competitively enough to make it the most affordable retro bike in India.
Unofficial bookings have already commenced and you can read more about them here. The Yamaha FZ-X will be based on the proven Yamaha FZ-S FI / Yamaha FZ-Fi platform, so expect similar specification and underpinnings. You can read everything about the motorcycle in our pre-launch wrapup here.

Once launched, the Yamaha FZ-X will have the distinction of being the only retro offering in the 150cc segment. The only other affordable alternative is the Royal Enfield Bullet 350, which costs a hefty Rs 1.60 lakh. Yamaha has chosen to offer something indigenously developed for our market, instead of bringing in the Yamaha XSR155. Will it be able to emulate Royal Enfield’s success in the segment below the 350cc space? Well, only time will tell.
