The range is having 10 bikes ranging from 795cc to 1200cc. The upcoming Ducati Monster 1200R is known as the most powerful naked machine till date in company’s dynasty. This time with 1200R, Ducati has tried to make the bike lighter with better handling with increased power and gave it a dynamic sporty look that makes it stand-apart from the standard Monster. The Italian Sports Bike Maker has managed to shed-off 2kg of weight in this model as compared to the S model. The engine produces the maximum power of 160bhp at 9250 rpm and the peak torque of 131.5Nm at 7750 rpm. This two wheel monster is also equipped with some advanced features like the traction control and ABS.

Overview

Ducati monster line-up is undoubtedly one of the best naked bike series available in India so far. Being the most powerful and expensive bike, Ducati 1200 S Stripe is powered by a 1198.4cc, Testastretta 11° L-twin cylinder, four-stroke engine that is mated to a six-speed gearbox. It churns out a peak power of 145bhp at 8,750rpm with a maximum torque of 124.5Nm at 7,250rpm. An electronic fuel injection system with 53mm throttle body ensures crisp throttle response and uninterrupted power delivery. The performance package that comes as standard with the bike adds 10bhp of power and 10Nm of torque to the output of motor.

Ducati 1200 S Stripe rests on a tubular steel trellis frame and runs on 120/70 ZR17 front and 190/55 ZR17 rear tyres. The suspension kit of the bike includes Ohlins fully adjustable 48mm upside-down front forks and progressive linkage with fully adjustable rear monoshock. The tyres are equipped to 330mm dual semi-floating disc brakes with 4-piston calliper at the front and 245mm disc with twin-piston calliper at the rear. The braking is made more responsive with the addition of Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS). Ducati 1200 S Stripe has an adjustable seat, whose height can vary from 785mm to 810mm. In addition, split seat is fitted on the bike, which gives it a sporty look. Ducati 1200 S Stripe also features DTC (Ducati Traction Control System) comprising of eight different profiles.

The front fascia of Ducati 1200 S Stripe looks dominating by a round shaped headlight integrated with LED position lamps. The combination of a traditional headlamp along with colored front forks makes it look more robust. The instrument panel goes fully digital with three different modes: Core view for urban riding, Full view for Touring and Track view for sports riding. The cluster includes digital speedometer, tachometer, twin tripmeters, low fuel indicator, low oil indicator and selected riding mode with several other information. The bike also features a low mounted number plate, which gets illuminated by LEDs that makes it look more pleasing. The bike is secured with an Anti-Theft system as well.

Design

Ducati Monster series comes with a dominating rounded headlamp section with twin individual sections. The fuel tank has been designed neatly to look good and offer an upright yet comfortable riding position to the rider. The tubular chrome moly steel trellis, casted aluminium subframe exposes itself impressively to show off some masculine ribs of the machine. The bike sports a fascinating step up seat that comes thickly cushioned and offers an optimum comfort to the rider and pillion. The rear end of the bike features twin masculine exhausts that are set on a decent height. The stylish tail lamp comes fully LED and gives a premium feel. The fat rear tyre shows off itself quite impressively giving a majestic look.

Ducati Monster 795 comes with overall body dimensions of  2,100mm x 780mm x 1,060mm (LxWxH) that gives it a respectable road presence. A wheelbase of 1,450mm ensures an agile and sharp handling in all traffic conditions.  Furthermore, the bike  has a minimum ground clearance of 167mm that gives superior stability around the corners.  Ducati Monster 795 has been assisted with a 15 liter fuel tank and has a total kerb weight of 187kgs.  The instrument console of the bike is very informative and fully digital comprising of  speedometer, tachometer, odometer, tripmeter, oil temperature gauge, low oil pressure light, fuel gauge, low fuel warning light and service reminder.

Engine, Mileage & Performance

Ducati 795 gets its power from a 803cc, L-Twin, 2 Desmodromically actuated valves per cylinder, air cooled engine that comes linked to a six-speed transmission system with a slipper clutch assisted wet multiplate clutch assembly. The motor churns out a net power of 85.8bhp at 8,250rpm with a peak torque of 78Nm at 6,250rpm. With this configuration, the bike delivers an overall superior performance along with a combined fuel economy of 18kmpl.

Handling & Ride Quality

Ducati 795 runs on 120/60 ZR 17 front and 160/60 ZR 17 rear grippy tyres that comes mounted over stylish black alloy wheels. The Pirelli Angel ST tyres have a good adhesion property and offer a superior stability on the road. The suspension system comprises of 43mm upside down forks at the front and Progressive linkage with preload and rebound adjustable monoshock at the rear that avails a stress free and comfortable ride under all road conditions.

Features

Ducati Monster has been blessed with APTC wet multiplate slipper clutch that prevents loss of revs and the effects of engine braking under aggressive downshifts. The twin 320mm disc brakes at the front and a single 245mm disc brakes have been equipped with a high-performance ABS unit that gives a better bite and stability under harsh braking conditions. The twin rear view mirrors keeps the rider alert and aware of the traffic behaviour going on behind his back. These safety features make the bike a safe and trustworthy companion for the streets.
