November 21, 2015: Kawasaki has introduced new color schemes for ER-6n at 2015 EICMA in Milan. Along with new colors, the motorcycle gets unique paint scheme which is carried on to the rear monoshock and rim stripes. Except for these cosmetic changes, ER-6n remains unaltered. Overview

Kawasaki revamped the Indian high-end motorcycle market by releasing their 650cc street fighter christened as Kawasaki ER-6n. The bike has got bold looks and sharp body dynamics that make it come across a perfect companion for the streets. It is the first bike of Kawasaki in India which does not come under Ninja or Z-series nameplate.

The bike is powered by a 649cc, liquid-cooled, four stroke engine mated to a six-speed transmission system. The parallel-twin motor churns out a maximum power of 71hp at 8,500rpm with a net torque of 64Nm at 7,000rpm. The refined Kawasaki engine delivers a promising and butter-smooth performance.

The Kawasaki ER-6n is crafted on a perimeter type, high tensile steel frame. It moves on 120/70-ZR17 front and 160/60-ZR17 rear tubeless tyres. The suspension duties are carried out by 41mm telescopic fork at the front and offset laydown single with pre-load adjustment at the rear. The bike comes with twin-calliper, dual 300mm petal disc brakes at the front and 220mm single petal disc brake at the rear.

The front headlamp section is sharp drop-down type, which shouts loud the bikeโ€™s aggression. The overall body profile is forward leaned giving it a naked street fighter appeal. A split seat is also incorporated in the bike making it sportier. The rear grab rails are bigger and are stacked at the side panels providing a better look. A high-level fuel tank blesses the bike with a handsome stance. The bike sports a fuel tank of 16 liter capacity. A super-short silencer that ends just below the rear monoshock looks fascinating and sporty. The instrument cluster looks modern with plenty of information : Digital speedometer, digital tachometer, twin tripmeters, low oil indicator, low fuel indicator, low battery indicator and an average mileage indicator.

Design

Born with aggression and style, the Kawasaki ER-6n can drive anyone crazy with its super sharp body styling and outrageous appeal. The front body profile receives a pointed headlamp unit with a small black coloured visor. The fuel tank rises high giving the bike broad shoulders and a good riding position to the rider. The tank shrouds further enhances its visuals and blesses the bike with high-end aesthetics that it truly deserves. The rear monoshock is fitted in a cross-vertical manner that looks stunning besides giving comfort to the rider. The bike has a sporty stepup, split seat that looks munificent and ensures a stress-free and comfortable ride. The grab rail is mounted impressively at the rear body panels that further cheers up its tail end section. Moreover, a stylish LED tail lamp unit is present along with clear lens turning blinkers that matches with the overall character of the bike.

Bolted on a tubular diamond, high tensile steel frame, Kawasaki ER-6n comes with body dimensions of 2,110mm x 770mm x 1,110mm (LxWxH) that give it a good noticeable presence. It has a wheelbase of 1,410mm that makes it easy to handle even it the most crowded places. Moreover, a minimum ground clearance of 130mm ensures sharp cornering without any trouble. The bike has a refreshing instrument console that comprises of a digital speedometer, twin tripmeters, fuel gauge and an analogue tachometer along with the usual telltale lights. It has a total kerb weight of 206kgs and has been assisted with a 16 liter fuel tank that gives it a long touring range.ย 

Engine, Mileage & Performance

Kawasaki ER-6n houses the same 649cc, Liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, Parallel Twin, DOHC engine that is used in its sports tourer mate, Ninja 650. The mill comes mated to a six-speed gearbox and uses wet multiplate clutch assembly. It cranks out a peak power of 71Bhp at 8,500rpm with a maximum torque of 64Nm at 7,000 rpm and is configured to pump out perfect low and mid range power delivery. The fuel injected engine has bore x stroke ratio of 83mm x 60mm with a compression ratio of 10.8:1.

Handling & Ride Quality

The bike moves gracefully on 120/70ZR17M/C front and 160/60ZR17M/C rear tubeless tyres that are mounted on premium black alloy wheels. The stopping abilities are given by dual 300mm disc brakes with twin-piston calliper at the front and single 220mm petal disc brake with a single piston calliper at the rear end. Kawasaki has made sure that the bike offers a comfortable ride by equipping it with a reliable and sound suspension system that comprises of 41mm telescopic fork upfront and offset laydown single-shock with adjustable preload at the rear.ย 

Features

Kawasaki ER-6n has been equipped with tubeless tyres that prove convenient in case of a puncture by preventing any losing of air pressure. Hence, the rider does not have to worry in case of tyre inflation and has enough time to reach his destination. Furthermore, the bike has a powerful brake setup that comes with dual disc brakes at the front and a single disc brake at the rear. The twin rear view mirrors helps the rider keep a check of his surroundings and the behaviour of other vehicles on road, thereby preventing any undesirable situation. All these features make the bike a fun-filled yet safe companion for the streets.
