Overview

July 19, 2017: MV Agusta will be launching the Turismo Veloce in India. This was announced at the launch of the Brutale 800. The Turismo Veloce is a sports tourer, the first by MV Agusta. Though the Turismo Veloce is based on the Brutale 800, it gets a host of changes to differentiate the two. It uses the Brutale 800's motor that is now reworked for more low-end grunt. The suspension is raised while the frame is strengthened for lugging extra load. The Turismo Veloce is expected to be priced around Rs 17-18 lakhs. Competition comes in the form of the Triumph Tiger 800 XRx, Ducati Multistrada 950, Suzuki V Strom and Kawasaki Versys 1000.

Design

The Turismo Veloce gets extra plastic cladding for that sports tourer look. The fairing and rear panels have been designed to deliver the perfect weight distribution with the side panniers. The side panniers are detachable and can easily be mounted on the bike via new saddle mounts on the frame. The panniers have been shaped to accommodate the pillion rider’s legs.
The new 22-litre fuel tank narrows down towards the rear for more knee room. The headlamp gets the all-LED treatment. The large windshield's height can be adjusted by 60mm. Behind the windshield are two small glove boxes for storing knick knacks. The hand guards get integrated turn indicators.

Engine, Mileage & Performance

The Turismo Veloce comes with the same 798cc in-line three-cylinder engine that does duty on the Brutale. The Euro-4 motor though has been retuned for more low range grunt. New pistons, new cam profiles and intake and exhaust units increase torque by 20 percent which is delivered 2100rpm lower in the rev range. The new motor makes 110PS @ 10,150rpm and 80Nm of torque @ 7100rpm. Electronics include full ride-by-wire, four riding modes and eight-stage traction control with a lean angle sensor for stable cornering. MV Agusta claims the Turismo Veloce has a top speed of 230kmph.

Handling & Ride Quality

The Turismo Veloce uses the Brutale 800's trellis frame though it is now wider in the middle, with aluminum inserts in key areas for extra rigidity. The swingarm is a single-sided. Suspension consists of fully adjustable Marzocchi upside-down forks with 160mm of front wheel travel and fully adjustable Sachs monoshock damper with 165mm of rear wheel travel. The 17-inch wheels have an all-new design and tires are Pirelli Scorpion Trail.
For braking, the Turismo Veloce uses 320mm discs radially clamped with 4-piston Brembo calipers at the front and a single disc with a 2-piston Brembo caliper at the rear. ABS is standard and gets rear lift mitigation or anti-stoppie control.

Features

The Turismo Veloce gets eight-stage traction control with a lean angle sensor for stable cornering and ABS with rear lift mitigation or anti-stoppie.
