TVS motor company has launched the Raider 125 Drum brake variant in India, priced at Rs 84,869 (ex-showroom). With this price, the Drum variant becomes the most affordable version of the TVS Raider, and is Rs 11,000 cheaper than the single-seat disc variant, providing a lower entry point for the customers.

What’s New?

The new TVS Raider 125 Drum variant comes equipped with 130mm drum brakes on both ends, paired with CBS (combined braking system) as standard. The drum brake variant of the Raider is available in two colours, including Striking Red and Wicked Black.

In terms of features, the Raider 125 drum gets an LCD instrument console that shows the speedometer, odometer, fuel levels, tripmeter, mileage indicator, gear position indicator, clock and other basic telltale lights. The 125cc bike gets an LED headlight with DRLs (daytime running lights), an LED tail light, and halogen indicators. Being the base variant, it lacks the TFT console and smartphone connectivity features that the top SX variant gets.

What’s Unchanged?

The rest of the mechanicals and hardware remain unchanged on the TVS Raider 125 Drum variant. It is still powered by the same 124.8cc, air and oil-cooled, 3-valve, single-cylinder engine that delivers a peak output of 11.38PS and 11.2Nm, paired with a 5-speed gearbox. The Raider has the best-in-segment acceleration time from 0 to 60kmph in just 6.23 seconds, as per our real-world tests.

Underpinnings include a telescopic fork and a 5-step preload-adjustable gas-charged monoshock. The Raider 125 rolls on 17-inch wheels, wrapped with 80-section front and 100-section rear tubeless tyres. It has a 10-litre fuel tank, has a ground clearance of 180mm, and weighs 123kg (kerb).

While the TVS Raider 125’s more expensive variants rival the premium 125cc bikes like the Hero Xtreme 125R and Honda SP 125, the new Raider 125 Drum brake variant goes up against the likes of Hero Super Splendor, Honda Shine 125, Bajaj CT125X and Hero Glamour.
