We expect to see the new RT-XD4 299.1cc engine in the upcoming TVS bikes very soon!
Quick News Highlights
The new 299cc engine makes the best-in-segment 35PS & 28.5Nm The engine platform is mated to a six-speed gearbox with a slip-and-assist clutch We expect to see this new engine in future TVS bikesTVS Motor Company has just unveiled the RT-XD4 300, a new 299cc engine platform, at the TVS Motosoul 2024 in Goa.
Here are the details of the new TVS RT-XD4 300 engine
The new TVS RT-XD4 300 is a 299.1cc, 4-valve liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine that produces 35PS at 9,000rpm and 28.5Nm at 7,000rpm. For perspective, the TVS flagship Apache RR 310 delivers a peak output of 38PS at 9,800rpm and 29Nm at 7,900rpm. It is paired with a six-speed gearbox with a slip-and-assist clutch. The RT-XD4 300 platform will also feature a ride-by-wire throttle and Plasma spray-coating on the outside.
The TVS RT-XD4 300 engine also gets:
Double-jacketed water and oil cooling system, which is claimed to provide better and more efficient cooling of the engine Dual Over Head Camshafts (DOHC) that allows the engine to rev higher and provide better performance Dual oil pump with split chamber crankcase for better lubrication inside the engine Dual breather system which prevents engine oil from getting dirty and prolongs its life, for an impressive performance over a long periodsThe performance figures of this new engine are most likely to be similar to that of the current 310cc motor but the new motor has a flat torque delivery. There have been rumours about TVS working on its first adventure bike for sometime and this engine could be perfect for that bike to perform well off-road. The current 310cc engine powering the RR 310 works really well for that bike, so it is unlikely that TVS will replace that platform with the RT-XD4. The new motor could be good for a road bike also and we might get to see a naked bike based on this platform in the future as well.
