Hero MotoCorp, India’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer, has been in the electric two-wheeler vehicle market for sometime now with the Vida sub-brand, but is preparing to make a bigger move soon. According to a report published online, the company plans to launch several new electric models over the coming next two to three years, covering everything from entry level budget scooters to dirt bikes and even performance electric motorcycles, in partnership with Zero Motorcycles.

Splendor Electric

One of the biggest projects for Hero is the Splendor EV, which will be their mass market electric bike. This electric version of the Splendor has been under development for nearly two years at Hero’s technology center in Jaipur and is expected to launch by 2027. The company hopes to sell around 2,00,000 units yearly, targeting the everyday commuter market and buyer.

Vida Dirt Bike

Alongside the Splendor EV, Hero is also preparing to release a Vida electric dirt bike by sometime in 2026. This model is expected to mainly target international markets, with a production goal of about 10,000 units per year.

Other 2-Wheelers

The company is also working on additional electric motorcycles that will be equivalent to 150cc to 250cc internal combustion engine (ICE) models. These motorcycles are part of a project named ADZA which will be aimed at riders looking for performance-oriented bikes.

Future Plans

Hero aims to produce over 5,00,000 electric two-wheelers each year by 2027-28. The upcoming electric bikes will account for about 250,000 units, while the Vida electric scooters will make up the rest of the sales figures. With these new models, the brand plans to cater to a wide range of customers, from daily commuters to those seeking performance electric bikes.
