In Focus: Marlboro Man Himalayan

Modified On Oct 28, 2019 04:07 PM By Benjamin Noel Gracias for Royal Enfield Himalayan

This Royal Enfield Himalayan-based retro scrambler is made in India

The Royal Enfield Himalayan is quite a capable ADV motorcycle. However, it is not something you would term as eye-catching due to its functional design. The Himalayan, though, makes for a brilliant canvas from which you can create something like this. Called the Marlboro Man, this Himalayan has been converted into a retro-looking scrambler by Devashish Sharma at his Pune-based custom workshop called Ricochet Motorcycles.

This Himalayan mod is more scrambler than ADV now. It gets 18-inch aluminium spoke wheels on both ends. The Ceat Gripp tyres have been replaced with a 110-section Ralco and 130-section Heidenau dual-purpose tyres. For better control, the front end gets endurance upside-down forks with custom springs for dirt bike riding and custom triple-tree fork clamps.

The rear subframe has been replaced with a flatter unit for that scrambler stance and it gets a narrow but well-padded seat. For better performance in the dirt, the custom motorcycle gets a larger sprocket with 5 more teeth, K&N air filter and a modified exhaust pipe.

Other add-ons on the Marlboro Man are custom twin headlamps with headlamp guard, Barkbuster knuckle guards, adjustable levers, customised race number plates, aluminum bash plate and scrambler footpegs.

The custom work seems to be done quite well with no compromise on reliability. In fact, the customer took delivery of the Marlboro Man and immediately rode it down 1,500km from Pune to Delhi without issues.
