Lectro Townmaster Electric-Assist Bicycle Launched
The premium e-bicycle is aimed at the urban commuting segment
Lectro, the sub-brand of Hero Cycles, has launched the Townmaster e-bicycle at Rs 30,999. It is a road-going cycle with an electric motor that supplements power to the pedals. The pedal-assist bicycle comes with features such as a fixed LED headlamp, front suspension, disc brakes, and a 7-speed gearbox.

Like other Lectro pedal-assisted e-bicycles, the Townmaster too has a Lithium-ion cell pack hidden inside the frame, which can be charged via a charging point integrated into the frame itself. It supplies power to the LED headlamp and the hub-mounted electric motor, which helps reduce pedaling effort by a claimed 80 percent. You can also run the bicycle on a pure electric drive. It gets a twist grip throttle and a cruise control feature, which allows the e-bicycle to be ridden at a fixed 6kmph purely on electric power. The battery pack offers a range of around 30-40km and takes around 3 hours to charge.
Pedal-assist e-bicycles make sense if your commuting distance is not too long. They are as easy to ride around the city as your regular bicycles but require far less effort to pedal, especially while riding uphill.
