As reported by Deccan Herald, the concept is somewhat similar to Europe’s licence categories that are A1, A2 and A. Currently, the rider who has a licence of geared vehicles can ride/drive any automobile regardless of the power that engine produces. But from now on, anyone who owns a bike that has engine displacement more than 500cc, will have to get a separate licence  for riding the bike. The rider will have to go through a training session to get the licence.

The whole idea behind this step is to keep beginners away and to deny them access to heavy displacement machines. The concept is expected to be implemented in the next bill for Motor Vehicle Act. Also in this act equipments like always-on headlamps and compulsory ABS may be made mandatory in the coming time for safety reasons.
