Royal Enfield Himalayan Likely to get Fuel Injection Version in North American Market
Royal Enfield has been doing pretty hard to expand its global reach. Earlier this month, the company created a new segment for the biking enthusiasts who are looking for the product that can perform well on both on and off-road. Named as Himalayan, the bike is claimed to be the most practical motorcycle ever introduced in Indian market. Recently, the Instagram account of Royal Enfield North America shared a picture of Himalayan with sky-high mountain range by the same name at the backdrop. The caption of the photograph states the Himalayan is likely to get Fuel-Injection version for the North American market as well, but nothing has been confirmed yet.
Earlier on February 2, 2016, just ahead of the Auto Expo, the Chennai-based automaker has introduced this state-of-the-art motorcycle, which the company has been working on from the past five years. The bike basically targets the individuals who need something that can be enjoyed same way while going off the beaten path and explore new places. With the launch of Himalayan, Royal Enfield has marked the entry to the Adventure Tourer category in the Indian two-wheeler market, which is largely dominated by the commuter bikes.
Coming to the performance of the motorcycle, the bike is propelled by an all new LS410 single cylinder SOHC carbureted engine that generates around 24.5PS of power and 32Nm of torque. The LS of the engine stands for Long-Stroke - a tradition with all Royal Enfield Motorcycles and the company claims it to be a free-revving machine that can run around 10,000 kms without an oil change, which all the tourers look for. Its smooth powerplant is coupled to a 5-speed gearbox and gets disc brake at both the sides. The motorcycle is also available with optional accessories that include luggage panniers along with front guard that can hold the plastic jerry cans, which further help the rider to carry luggage on long tours.
