The Apache RR 310 has more features but the RC 390 is the more powerful bike out of the two

The 2024 TVS Apache RR 310 has been launched with a few upgrades. So, how does it compare with one of its rivals, the KTM RC 390? Let’s take a look:

Design

Both supersport bikes get pretty aggressive styling with sharp design lines. The TVS Apache RR 310’s design lines are sharper while the KTM RC 390’s design lines are boxier. The exposed rear subframe of the RC 390 looks especially good on such a performance-focused bike. The Apache RR 310 gets two colour schemes called Racing Red and Bomber Grey while the RC 390 gets Orange and Blue colour options.

Engine

The 2024 TVS Apache RR 310 is powered by the same 312cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, reverse-inclined engine as the previous model. It now produces 38PS at 9800rpm and 29Nm at 7900rpm and the bike has a claimed top speed of 164kmph. The slip and assist clutch is available as standard while the quickshifter is only available as standard on the mid and top-end colour variants.

The KTM RC 390 is powered by a 373.27cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine producing 43.5PS at 9000rpm and 37Nm at 7000rpm. The slip and assist clutch and the quickshifter are available as standard on the Austrian bike.

Suspension, Brakes And Other Details

The TVS Apache RR 310’s suspension setup consists of an inverted fork and a monoshock. The braking setup consists of a 300mm disc brake at the front and a 240mm disc brake at the rear (petal units at both ends) with dual-channel ABS as standard. The bike gets a 110-section front and 150-section rear Michelin Road 5 tyre setup with 17-inch wheels at both ends. It has a wheelbase of 1365mm, seat height of 180mm, ground clearance of 180mm, kerb weight of 174kg and a fuel tank capacity of 11 litres.

The KTM RC 390 gets a 43mm inverted fork and monoshock (WP Apex units at both ends) suspension setup while braking duties are taken care of by a 320mm front disc brake with a radially mounted calliper and a 230mm rear disc brake with a floating calliper. The bike gets a 110-section front and 150-section rear tyre setup with 17-inch wheels at both ends. It has a wheelbase of 153mm, fuel tank capacity of 13.7 litres, seat height of 835mm and a kerb weight of 172kg.

Features

The TVS Apache RR 310 gets a 5-inch TFT instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation. It gets all-LED lighting and four riding modes: Sport, Track, Urban and Rain. The RR 310 gets two additional Dynamic and Dynamic Pro packages. The Dynamic kit costs an extra Rs 18,000 and consists of a fully adjustable front and rear suspension setup, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) and a brass coated chain. The Dynamic Pro Kit costs Rs 16,000 and consists of a 6-axis IMU system with cornering traction control, cruise control, cornering ABS, wheelie control, slope dependent control and rear lift off control.

The KTM RC 390 gets a TFT instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity but misses out on turn-by-turn navigation. The supersport gets all-LED lighting, cornering ABS, supermoto ABS (the rear ABS can be switched off due to this feature) and traction control.

Price

The TVS Apache RR 310 costs Rs 2,75,000 without the quickshifter while the Racing Red colour variant with the quickshifter costs Rs 2,92,000. The Bomber Grey colour variant costs Rs 2,97,000. The KTM RC 390 is priced at Rs 3,21,173 (all prices ex-showroom Delhi). The TVS Apache RR 310 is a bit more feature rich than the RC 390 but the latter is way more powerful with a more than decent features list. So, if you want a sub-400cc supersport bike with an extensive features list, then the RR 310 will suit you. Whereas, if you want an all-out performance bike, then the RC 390 is the one for you.
