UML to launch 300-500cc cruiser range in India in the second-quarter of 2015

UML- a joint venture company with 50-50 partnership between UM (United Motors) Motorcycles and Lohia Auto is developing a cruiser range, which will be launched in India in the second-quarter of 2015. The bikes to be launched will have an engine capacity of 300- 500 cc, against the 200-230 cc that was announced previously.The company will start with about 50 dealers in the first phase in the first year, which will mostly cover all metro cities.

UM International is known globally for its breakthrough innovations and exclusive features, and it has aggressive plans to get a strong foothold into the growing Indian Domestic Market. The company displayed a few of their latest state-of-art products at the Auto Expo 2014 with an eye to gauge consumer’s reaction. Looking at the current range of products and the latest plans of the company, it seems to challenge the Indian brand- Royal Enfield.

UM Motorcycles, through this Joint Venture, aims to foray into the burgeoning motorcycle market in India by offering consumers a new, fresh alternative, initially in the Cruiser category and subsequently in other segments. The cruiser range will be competitively priced and will create a niche market for young consumers looking for an affordable cruiser.
