Yamaha's new retro motorcycle decoded via detailed images

Yamaha has launched the XSR155 in Thailand. This new neo-retro bike is based on the Yamaha MT-15 and promises similar performance in a cooler package. Here's what you need to know about the XSR155

In terms of styling, the XSR155 is similar to the larger XSR900 and XSR700 and gets the same circular headlamp and neo-retro roadster stance.

The new XSR155 has a narrow profile thanks to a slim fuel tank and narrow seat. It gets wide handlebars though.

The teardrop-shaped fuel tank can hold 10 litres of fuel. It gets two-tone plastics and a tank-mounted ignition switch.

The seat has a flat profile and gets a ribbed finish. Seat height at 810mm is similar to the MT-15.

The old-school round headlamp gets modern LED lighting. It gets an inbuilt LED DRL as well.

The unique-looking minimalist round headlamp gets LED lighting. However, the turn indicators are bulb-type units.

The circular instrument console gets all-digital readout. This minimalist unit includes a speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge and gear position indicator.

The XSR155 shares its liquid-cooled 155cc motor with the MT-15 and R15 V3.0. It makes 19.3PS and 14.7Nm. This motor comes with a 6-speed gearbox and a slipper clutch.

The XSR155 gets a deltabox frame, upside down forks and monoshock. It gets disc brakes at both ends.

While the 17-inch alloy wheels and tyre sizes are similar to the MT-15, the XSR155 gets dual-purpose tyres.

The XSR155 is only available in Thailand for now and is priced at 91,500 baht there. There is a possibility that Yamaha India could launch the bike here next year at the 2020 Auto Expo. If launched we expect the bike to come in a BS6 compliant state of tune and be priced around Rs 1.4 lakh (ex-showroom).
