TVS Raider Summary

TVS has launched the Raider 125 iGO variant and here’s everything you need to know about it. The Raider also got a new Drum brake variant in India, which is Rs 11,000 cheaper than the single-seat disc variant. With the addition of these two new variants, the Raider is now available in 6 variants, here’s how they differ from each other.

What is the price of TVS Raider 125?

The TVS Raider price is Rs 85,010 for the base drum brake variant. The TVS Raider 125 top variant bike price is Rs 1,04,471 (both ex-showroom Delhi) for the SX variant.

How many variants are available in Raider 125?

The TVS Raider 125 is now available in six variants. The base drum brake variant is priced at Rs 85,010 the single-seat disc variant costs Rs 96,010 and the split-seat disc variant is available for Rs 97,850. The iGO variant is priced at Rs 98,530.

The Raider 125 Super Squad Edition (SSE) comes with Marvel-themed liveries and is priced at Rs 1,01,130. The top-end SX variant is available for Rs 1,04,471 (all prices ex-showroom Delhi). The best TVS Raider variant is the SX variant in our opinion, as it offers an info-packed TFT instrument cluster with smartphone connectivity that works really well.

What are the colour options in Raider 125?

There are 8 colours for the TVS Raider. This includes Striking Red and Wicked Black colours for the base Drum variant. Whereas, the single-seat disc, split-seat disc and SX

Variants have Forza Blue, Fiery Yellow, and Wicked Black shades. The Split Seat and Single Seat variants also get Striking Red and Blazing Blue colour schemes. The iGO variant gets a Nardo Grey colour scheme with red alloys. The SSE version comes either in Black Panther or Iron Man themed liveries. The best colour for the TVS Raider 125 is Fiery Yellow in our opinion. The yellow, black and silver combination in the bodywork grabs quite a bit of attention.

What is the mileage of the Raider 125?

The real-world tested mileage of TVS Raider 125 is 71.94kmpl in the city, and 65.44kmpl on the highway. This makes the TVS Raider one of the best 125cc bikes with high mileage.

Is the TVS Raider a good bike for long rides?

The TVS Raider 125 makes 11.38PS and 11.2Nm (11.75Nm in the boost mode), making it one of the most powerful 125cc sporty commuters in India. It also has the best-in-segment 0-60kmph pickup of 6.23 seconds. The engine is refined while riding in the city, and the clutch lever is pretty light too. This along with the handling makes it a great bike for daily use. As for highway performance, the TVS Raider can cruise at 80-90kmph, but there’s a bit of vibration from 65kmph, but it's not too bothersome. Though the Raider is not the best bike for long rides, it can do highway stretches every now and then. The wide tyres and 123kg kerb weight ensure it stays stable on the highways too.

What are the features of TVS Raider?

The TVS Raider is the first 125cc sporty commuter bike to get Eco and Sport riding modes, which change the behaviour of the engine accordingly. The iGO variant also gets a Boost mode which temporarily gives the Raider a boost in torque of 0.55Nm. It also gets all LED headlights across all the variants. The instrument cluster is colour-LCD in all variants except for SX. It is packed with useful features including a mileage indicator, gear position indicator, speedometer, odometer, tripmeters, fuel gauge, and clock, among others. The TFT console in the SX variant additionally offers smartphone connectivity with call/SMS alerts, sports and weather updates, and turn-by-turn navigation with voice assist. It also has a small compartment under the seat, with a USB port to charge your phone. However, this location is not very convenient. Other notable features include a silent starter, start-stop system, and side-stand indicator with engine cut-off function.

Is Raider 125 worth buying?

The TVS Raider 125 is worth buying if you want a good-looking 125cc bike that is not only worthwhile in terms of performance and handling, but is also packed with features. The Raider is a great value-for-money bike.

What are the alternatives Bikes to the Raider 125?

The Hero Xtreme 125R is the best alternative Bike to the TVS Raider 125. It comes with similar levels of performance, equally good handling, and additionally, comes with the safety of a single-channel ABS. It may not be as feature-packed as the Raider but still gets all the necessary bits. It is also a little cheaper than the Raider 125. Whereas, the new drum brake variant goes up against the likes of Hero Xtreme 125R,  Honda Shine 125, Bajaj Pulsar N125 and Hero Glamour.

Raider Expert Review

BikeDekho Experts
The TVS Raider 125 shows that 125cc bikes need not be boring or conventional. It'll appeal to those willing to spend a little extra on a commuter bike that is not only stylish and feature-rich but also delivers respectable performance while maintaining good mileage.

Overview

The TVS Raider equipped with an optional TFT display and two riding modes, setting it apart from the crowd. The Raider 125 offers a unique and sporty look, and its Supersquad Edition further adds to its uniqueness with Marvel superhero liveries. Let's find out how it performs in the real world:

TVS Raider 125 Overview

Design

The Raider's Bumblebee-like LED headlight gives the bike a distinctive appearance, although some may see it as overkill, it adds a unique touch. Featuring standard LED head and tail lights, it appeals to those aspiring for a larger bike but settling for a 125cc due to budget constraints.

Our test bike, in striking yellow with a blacked-out lower half, showcases top-notch paint quality. TVS' decision to use 3D logos for the 'Prancing Horse' and 'Raider' emblems, along with details like tank scoops, stubby exhaust, body-coloured engine cowl, and a patterned side panel, reaffirms that budget-friendly doesn't mean compromising on quality.

TVS Raider 125 Design

Engine, Mileage & Performance

The Raider's 124.8cc engine, though sharing the capacity with the NTorq 125, differs significantly. Producing 11.38PS at 7500rpm and 11.2Nm at 6000rpm with a 5-speed gearbox, it feels exciting in the city and the engine only feels stressed beyond 85kmph, typical for its size.

The engine is also remarkably tractable and performs well in traffic even without TVS' GTT (Glide Through Traffic) technology, accelerating smoothly from low speeds even in third gear, a boon for newer riders. Following a 'frugal commuter' ethos, it efficiently conserves fuel. With a 10-litre tank, those with a 50-60km daily commute need to refuel only about once every two weeks.

TVS Raider 125 Engine

Handling & Ride Quality

At 123kg (kerb), the Raider is a lightweight bike and glides through city traffic effortlessly.  Complimenting the lively engine is a slightly forward-leaning riding posture. The suspension setup ensures a comfortable ride with minimal impact on riding dynamics, even with a pillion.

The braking performance is reliable, and the front disc/rear drum setup doesn't overwhelm the rider in any situation. However, a bit more feedback from the front lever would have been welcomed. There is also a Raider 125 Drum brake variant variant in the market as well, which is more affordable. It comes with 180mm of ground clearance. The tyres, despite their slim profile, provide a strong grip on the road.

TVS Raider 125 Handling

Comfort

The Raider delivers a comfortable riding experience, despite the slightly leaned riding posture. The easily accessible seat suits riders of various heights, and the slim design allows for easy flat-footing. The tank's shape, wide handlebar, and scooped seat provide a comfortable stance. Its conveniently placed switches and capable rearview mirrors contribute to the overall rider-friendly experience.

The single-seat variant provides superior comfort, while in the split-seat version, the two-piece seat positions the pillion slightly higher. The sturdy one-piece alloy grab rail offers a secure grip for the pillion.

TVS Raider 125 Comfort

Features

The negative LCD display is easy to read on the go and offers a lot of ride information including a speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge, gear position indicator, two trip meters, time, eco/power mode readout, and even a top/average speed recorder.

TVS Raider 125 Features

The TVS Raider, similar to the NTorq 125, offers two riding modes: Eco, providing a more relaxed throttle response, and Power, offering a more urgent acceleration. Interestingly, the Raider features TVS' Intelligo Stop-Start system, but it operates only in Eco mode. On the practical side, the Raider features a USB port, allowing you to connect your mobile for navigation without worrying about running out of battery. Another useful feature is the small underseat storage, ideal for storing small items or documents.

Additionally, TVS also offers a top-variant with a TFT console, Bluetooth connectivity, Voice Assist, and turn-by-turn navigation via the TVS SmartXonnect app.

Should you buy

The TVS Raider appears to be a robust product and a stylish alternative to the common Honda Shine or Hero Glamour. While the front disc variant comes at an additional cost of around Rs 11,000 compared to the drum brake variant, we recommend going for the former for better braking and a safer ride. But, if you're a Marvel fan, the Supersquad edition can be the right choice for you.

    Review after 1 year.
I have been riding the Raider for a year now. It's comfortable and the performance is great for 125cc. Can be a little uncomfortable for the pillion for long rides. Otherwise probably the best bike in its segment. The power mode actually does show difference in power and I usually ride the bike roughly yet it handles the city bumps very well. It does tend to vibrate a little when driven over 80 but the mileage is very good compared to the power output.

Bike is totally awesome and the milage, performance , looks are very good price is under 1 lakh and in this segment decent price and look . Feature of bikes is silent start , extra torq , Bluetooth connectivity and overall is worth. But the suspension for pillion riders normally not good for breakers.
