Yamaha has updated its range of scooters for 2019. For this year, the Alpha gets a maintenance-free battery and Unified Braking System (UBS). Owing to the updates, prices for the 2019 Yamaha Scooter models have gone up by Rs 400 for drum and Rs 600 for disc brake-equipped variants.

 The 110cc Alpha, has been proposed a perfect vehicle for the Indian families. It comes with many best-in-class features along with adequate performance delivery. The scooter has a linear power delivery, which helps to maintain the performance in varying conditions. Another special feature of the Alpha is mass centralisation, which helps to keep optimum stability and makes the handling easier.

Yamaha has given this machine the largest under seat storage of 21-liters that will help the rider to keep a full size helmet plus a few important things. Extra long and comfortable seat is given to the scooter to ensure a convenient long ride. Seat height is only 775mm, which makes it quite convenient for the riders to take control of the ride. The long wheelbase of 1,270mm, minimum ground clearance of 128mm and kerb weight of 104 kg, keeps the rider confident for the ride. The overall measurements (length x width x height) of the scooter are 1,795mm × 675mm × 1,124mm.

Yamaha Alpha runs on an air-cooled, 4-stroke, SOHC, 2-valve, single-cylinder engine that displaces 113cc. Mated with a V-belt automatic transmission system, the engine churns out a maximum power of 7bhp at 7,500rpm and the peak torque of 8.1Nm at 5,000rpm. The engine uses carburetor as its fuel supply system and delivers an impressive mileage of 62kmpl. The fuel tank volume of the scooter is 5.2 liter.

Yamaha Alpha is built on a Steel pipe underbone type frame that is fixed with the 90/100-10 (53J) tyres at both the ends. The wheels are equipped with drum brakes, which keeps the account of safety of the rider. The suspension working at the front is Telescopic type and at the rear is a Unit Swing type.

The Alpha is in direct competition with the most popular Indian scooters- Honda Activa and TVS Jupiter. Being a family ride, Alpha has all the features that makes it likable and favorable to the people of the country. Appearance of the scooter is as strong as its designing and the main thing that makes it look more catchy is its all black theme that covers muffler and other mechanical parts.

Yamaha has always been a smart engine maker, one of its example is its mini-super-bike R15 that has a small 150cc engine but produces a maximum power of 17bhp. By putting its efforts together for this scooter, they have created an intelligent Air-cooled, 4-stroke, SOHC, 2-valve, single-cylinder engine that has the displacement of 113cc. The engine has been tuned to crank out a superior power of 7bhp at 7,500rpm, while generating a peak torque of 8.1Nm at 5,000rpm. The engine output is quite low but it results in better fuel efficiency. Claimed mileage of the scooter is upto 62Kmpl, which is highly competitive and worth for a 110cc automatic scooter. The V-belt automatic transmission, performing well, providing a smooth operation. For the ride to be more enthralling and sound, it gets a 5.2 liter large fuel tank capacity, however, its competitors boast a bigger fuel tank of about 6-liters.

Yamaha Alpha is one of the best offerings in its respective category, it has elegant appearance, adequate specifications and class aura. It been coupled with the Telescopic forks at the front and Unit swing at the rear that makes the suspension system sound and ascends the stability and control of the rider. The proper riding style with the fine dimensions not only makes it easy to ride but also gives more confidence to the rider to master it. The 90/100-10 (53J) tyres loaded at both ends of the scooter and are equipped with drum brakes for substantial braking. As it is a 110cc one, it is not imparted with a disc brake, however other makers in the same category are providing the same at the front wheel for enhanced safety of the rider. Low weight of 104kg helps the rider to handle the scooter in uncertain conditions. For females also, it is easy to ride and handle thanks to its light weight.

Yamaha Alpha comes with bright headlights that helps the rider to safely carry on his journey at nights. The braking of the scooter is fine but responsiveness can be enhanced with the allocation of a front disc brake.
