About Bajaj Pulsar 180

Bajaj Auto has hiked the prices of its Pulsar range, and now the Pulsar 180 costs Rs 1,16,653 (ex-showroom Delhi). Check out the new prices in our story.

The brand had introduced the Pulsar 180 in four new colours: matte Red, matte Blue, Moon White, and matte Black. To know more, head to the main story.

Bajaj Pulsar 180 Price

The Bajaj Pulsar 180 is priced at Rs 1,16,653 (ex-showroom Delhi). Available at all Bajaj dealerships across India, the Pulsar 180 essentially replaces the 180F.

Bajaj Pulsar 180 Features

The Bajaj Pulsar 180 comes with the same set of features as the Pulsar 150 Twin disc. It gets a halogen headlamp with twin pilot lamps and a LED tail light. The motorcycle uses semi-digital instrument clusters. For optimum safety, it gets a single-channel ABS as standard. At 15 litres,  the fuel tank is fairly large, making the motorcycle ideal for long-distance trips.

Bajaj Pulsar 180 Engine

The new Pulsar 180 is powered by the same BS6-compliant air-cooled single-cylinder 178.6cc mill as the Pulsar 180F. It pumps out 17.02PS at 8,500rpm and 14.52Nm at 6,500rpm, working in tandem with a 5-speed transmission. Instead of a fuel injection system, Bajaj has equipped the motorcycle with an electronic carburettor to keep costs in check.

Bajaj Pulsar 180 Suspension & Brakes

The Bajaj Pulsar 180 gets the same set of underpinnings as the Pulsar 180F. It employs a telescopic front fork and a pair of gas-charged shock absorbers at the rear. Braking is courtesy a 280mm front and 230mm rear disc. The motorcycle tips the scales at 151kg kerb, making it 5kg lighter than the Pulsar 180F.

Bajaj Pulsar 180 Rivals

The 2021 Bajaj Pulsar 180 competes with the TVS Apache RTR 180 and the Honda Hornet 2.0. At its price point, you could also go for the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, Yamaha FZ-S FI, Bajaj Avenger Street 160, and Hero Xtreme 160R.

Pulsar 180 Expert Review

BikeDekho Experts
The new Pulsar 180 is a value-for-money package with improved engine, better looks and ride quality.

Overview

Bajaj Pulsar 180 is an ideal companion for the buyers seeking premium commuter in the competitive Indian two-wheeler market. It is India’s first sports bike that attracted numerous bookings from its onset. The bike is now introduced with cosmetic as well as technology upgrades. It is on offer with a new and a better environment-friendly BS-IV compliant engine which produces blistering performance numbers of 17.02PS and 14.22Nm of torque. The bike comes with improved and intelligent electronics that guarantee a smoother power delivery and strong throttle response. Despite the enhanced performance, the company claims it to yield an unaffected fuel economy of 45Kmpl. The newer version shares most of the elements with the younger sibling, the Pulsar 150. The notable features apart from the shared counterparts include split rear grab rail, wider tyres, rear disc option and an all-new Black Pack color scheme which makes the bike look more upmarket than ever. Some other bits include 3D logo imprint, appealing alloy wheels, domed cowl and semi-digital instrument cluster. It weighs just 1Kg more than the Pulsar 150 that makes it easily manoeuvre vehicle in the traffic-ridden city conditions and also on the straight lines. There is still no ABS and safety duties are handled by the disc brakes fitted at front and rear ends. The new Bajaj Pulsar 180 is priced at INR 81,650 (Ex-showroom, Delhi).

Design

The Bajaj Pulsar 180 features an edgy design loved by millions. The large headlight fairing and the wolf-eye pilot lamps are characteristic of the DTS-i-era Pulsars. The subtle tank cowls keeps the sides busy while at the rear, the bike comes with a sleek tail section that packs an LED tail light. Split seats and split grab bars further accentuate the motorcycle’s sporty look. The ergonomics are comfortable enough for long rides as well. At 15 litres, the bike also comes with a rather large fuel tank.

The motorcycle features a semi-digital instrument cluster which shows run-of-the-mill information like speed, revs, odometer and trip meter, clock and fuel gauge.

Engine, Mileage & Performance

Under the skin, it has a BSIV compliant Digital Twin Spark ignition (DTS-i) 178.6cc engine that makes out 17.02PS at 8,500rpm and 14.22Nm of torque at 6,500rpm. Mated to a five-speed gearbox, the bike can hit the top speed of 122Kmph. The engine is refined than before. It comes with an electronic package comprising of TRICS III and intelligent CDI that improve ignition timing significantly and ensure a smoother power delivery and a lot better throttle response. The fuel efficiency doesn’t get affected by the engine refinements as the new Pulsar 180 comes with an economy of 45Kmpl. The Pulsar 180 weighs just 1Kg more than its 150 counterpart which adds considerably to the performance quotient.

Handling & Ride Quality

The Bajaj Pulsar 180 employs telescopic forks at the front and twin gas-charged Nitrox shock absorbers at the rear. The latter comes with 5-step preload adjustability too. A 90-section front and a 120-section rear tubeless tyres wrap around the 17-inch alloy wheels. The motorcycle is brought to a halt by a 260mm front and a 230mm rear disc. There’s no ABS on offer, even as an option.

Features

The motorcycle makes do with disc brake on both ends, without ABS for now. Bajaj is likely to update the motorcycle with at least a single-channel ABS once new safety norms kick in next year. As per the new norms, motorcycles that pack engines displacing 125cc or more should feature ABS as standard.

    Great Bike
This is an excellent product. Earlier, I had Pulsar 150 and was so impressed that I added 180 to my garage and it was totally worth the upgrade.
