Honda CB1000R Summary

Honda has taken the wraps off the 2021 CB1000R. It gets a new Black Edition that will replace the current-gen CB1000R Plus variant. The litre-class streetfighter gets updated looks, better equipment, and more features for 2021. To start things off, the headlight has been tweaked to look a bit sharper. The aluminium sub-frame has been redesigned to look cleaner and the radiator shrouds and airbox covers have also been restyled. Also new is the seven-spoke cast aluminium wheels with a distinctive Y-shape design. The Black Edition features an all-black paint scheme and a flyscreen as standard.

The CB1000R is powered by a Euro 5/ BS6 compliant 998cc, inline four-cylinder engine that makes the same power and torque as before -- 145.48PS at 10500rpm and 104Nm at 8250rpm. It retains its six-speed transmission. The Black Edition though benefits from a bi-directional quickshifter which comes in as standard. Electronic nannies include four ride modes Rain, Standard, Sport, User, and three levels of Engine Power (P), Engine Brake (EB) and Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC), where HSTC can be switched off.

It retains the same set of hardware as before. Suspension duties are handled by Showa SFF-BP inverted forks and Showa BRFC (Balance Free Rear Cushion) monoshock, both fully adjustable. The bike is anchored by twin 310mm front discs with radial callipers and a 256mm disc at the rear. Honda has not made it clear when they would be bringing the new CB1000R to India. But when they do, it will go up against the Suzuki Katana.
