Modified On May 25, 2017 05:26 PM By Team Bikedekho for Triumph Street Triple 765

The new bike will reach dealerships by mid-June

Triumph’s naked offering, the Street Triple, was first launched internationally in 2007. Six years later, the bike was updated with subtle changes. The updated bike was launched in India but with the current crop of competition, it has started to show its age. The 2017 iteration of the Street Triple comes with a sea of changes in order to make it more modern and relevant. In the US market, the 2017 version comes in three trims- Street Triple S, Street Triple R and Street Triple RS. The brand is planning to bring the updated bike to our shores and according to sources, the 2017 Triumph Street Triple S is likely to reach showrooms by the second week of June while deliveries are expected to commence by the end of June. The booking amount varies from Rs 1-2 lakh depending on the dealership while the top-end variant, the Street Triple RS, is expected to arrive by the end of this year. The new Street Triple retains the same design language as the older model but comes with a host of improvements in terms of powertrain, equipment and dynamics. The new bike is powered by a bigger 765cc engine which is a bored-out version of the Daytona 675 R’s heart. In the ‘S’ trim, the in-line, 3-cylinder engine produces 113PS of power at 11250rpm and 73Nm of torque at 9100rpm. For optimum performance, Triumph has blessed this bike with top cycle parts. The front end uses Showa 41mm inverted Separate Function Forks while the rear is suspended by a Showa monoshock with a piggyback reservoir. Braking duties are taken care of by twin 310mm discs with twin-piston Nissin callipers up front while the rear is anchored by a single 220mm disc with a single piston Brembo calliper.
The seat height of the new Street Triple is up by 10mm over the previous version and now stands at 810mm. The new bike is also 2kg lighter, tipping the scales at 166kg (dry). It is speculated that the new Street Triple will be priced between Rs 9-9.25 lakh, on-road, which makes it around Rs 25-50,000 more expensive than the existing model.
