In terms of competition, the Harley Davidson Forty-Eight Special goes up against the Indian Scout Bobber while the Street Glide Special competes against the Indian Chieftain.
Speaking of updates, the Forty-Eight Special gets “tallboy” handlebars and a retro coloured paint scheme on its peanut tank. For added convenience, customers can opt for a keyless ignition system that’s offered as an optional extra. It also gets beefier 49mm front forks and twin adjustable shocks at the rear. The Forty-Eight Special is powered by the same 1,202cc, V-twin motor that churns out 97Nm of torque at 3500rpm. In terms of colours options, the Forty-Eight Special is available in three different shades - Black, Wicked Red and Billiard White.
The Street Glide Special, on the other hand, features new Talon alloys wheels where the spokes extend till the edge of the rims, a new Boom Box GTS full-touchscreen infotainment system and blacked-out components. The new system features music controls, navigation and phone connectivity features. However, the most notable update on the bike is its massive 1,868cc Milwaukee-Eight 114 V-twin engine that dishes out 163Nm of torque at revs as low as 3000rpm. In comparison, the outgoing model is powered by a 1,745 cc, V-twin Milwaukee-Eight 107 motor that generates 150Nm of torque at 3,250rpm. Interestingly, despite these updates, the Street Glide Special weighs the same as before at 362kg. Harley-Davidson will also be getting the Electra Glide Standard to India later this year.
