2020 Honda CBR1000RR-R Bookings Commence In India

Modified On Jul 31, 2020 10:55 AM By Arun Mohan Nadar for Honda CBR1000RR-R

However, the booking amount according to Honda is classified information!

The CBR1000RR-R will be brought to India via the CBU route. It’ll be the most powerful Honda bike to go on sale in India. It’s the first production Honda bike to feature winglets. The first Honda superbike gets keyless ignition too.

The two-wheeler space has been a bit dormant due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. However, Honda has made a big announcement that should spice things up for us enthusiasts. It has started accepting bookings for the new CBR1000RR-R Fireblade! The superbike was unveiled at the 2019 EICMA motorcycle show in Italy and is the most powerful motorcycle from Honda to go on sale in India. The 2020 Honda CBR1000RR-R is available in two variants: Fireblade and the Fireblade SP

Let's first talk about the most significant update on the new bike - the motor. The last generation Honda CBR1000RR Fibrelade faced a lot of flak for producing under 200PS and being underpowered! Honda’s engineers seem to have taken the criticism personally as the new bike makes 25PS more than the older bike. The 1000cc in-line four-cylinder BS6-compliant engine on the CBR1000RR-R churns out an eye-popping 217.5PS and 113Nm of torque. And if you still aren’t impressed, how does a kerb weight of 201kg sound? Gulp!

To ensure that all that firepower doesn’t scare the daylights out of the rider, Honda’s engineers have equipped the bike with a bunch of electronic riding aids. It features a six-axis IMU unit, nine-level traction control, wheelie control, three power modes, cornering ABS and launch control — all of which can be changed via the new TFT display. In addition to the above, the 2020 Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade also features winglets for added downforce just like the ones you see on Marc Marquez’s MotoGP machine.

On the CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP variant you get better cycle parts such as Ohlins semi-active suspension and Brembo Stylema calipers. Apart from the mechanical updates, Honda’s designers have made the new bike look sharper and more modern than its predecessor with the inclusion of a simmer LED headlight. Another interesting detail is the titanium exhaust muffler which has been developed in partnership with Akrapovic.

Honda has been tight-lipped about the pricing of the new superbike. We expect the 2020 CBR1000RR-R Fireblade to be priced between Rs 18 lakh and Rs 22 lakh (ex-showroom). The bike is expected to be launched in August 2020 and it will rival the Ducati Panigale V4, Aprilia RSV4 1100 Factory, BMW S 1000 RR and Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R. However, we must add that all its rivals don’t meet the new BS6 emission norms yet.
