2020 Triumph Street Triple RS India Launch Postponed
The decision has been taken over the unprecedented coronavirus outbreak
The Street Triple RS has been updated with a Euro 5/BS6-compliant engine. Power output remains unchanged, while torque has gone up by 2Nm. The bike’s electronics package has also been updated. Expect a price tag of around Rs 12 lakh ex-showroom.Triumph has postponed the launch of the 2020 Street Triple RS launch in India due to the novel coronavirus outbreak. The British manufacturer says a new launch date will be announced post-March 31.
For 2020, the bike’s been updated with redesigned bug-eyed headlights and sharper LED DRLs. The bodywork has also been tweaked to look sleeker than before. Moreover, the bike's full-digital instrument console is not Bluetooth enabled.
However, the bike’s biggest talking point is its 765cc motor that has been the talk of the town ever since it was launched in 2017. The internals of the engine have been reworked to comply with Euro 5/BS6 emission norms. Thankfully, despite this, the three-cylinder engine still puts out 123PS of peak power. Torque, on the other hand, has gone up by 2Nm and now sits at 79Nm.
The electronic aids have also been reworked to suit the retuned engine. A bi-directional quickshifter now arrives as standard. It retains the same hardware as before. The only change being grippier Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP v3 tires.
Considering Triumph offers the Street Triple RS for more or less the same price in international markets, we can expect the India-spec model to be priced around Rs 12 lakh (ex-showroom). The 2020 Triumph Street Triple RS will compete against the Yamaha MT-09, KTM 790 Duke, and the Ducati Monster 821.
