Compared to the previous version, Benelli hasn’t changed a lot on the 2021 TRK 502X. It gets a redesigned analogue-digital instrument console with a white backlight for the analogue dial and amber for the screen. But in addition, the bike now gets the same backlit switchgear, aluminium knuckle guard, redesigned seat and wider mirrors as the standard TRK 502.
The TRK 502X is powered by a BS6 compliant 500cc twin-cylinder motor belting out 47.5PS and 46Nm, the same as the TRK 502. It is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. They also share the same suspension setup and braking hardware.
Kawasaki Versys 650 vs Honda CB500X: Image Comparison Honda CB350RS Road Test Review Benelli TRK 502: Old vs NewThe TRK 502X is suspended on an inverted telescopic fork and hydraulic monoshock with preload and rebound adjustability. The bike sits on a 110/80 - 19 front and 150/70 - 17 rear spoked wheel wrapped in Metzeler Tourance rubber, unlike the 120/70 front and 160/60, 17-inch alloys on the TRK 502. The seat height for the X is 840mm, compared to the road-going version’s 800mm. The 220mm ground clearance paired with the spoked wheels should make the TRK 502X more off-road friendly than the TRK 502.
With its tall stance, protruding front beak and the windscreen upfront, the styling hasn’t been altered at all. One of the distinguishing factors for the TRK 502X is its upswept exhaust complementing its off-road usability.
As for the competition, the TRK 502X faces the recently launched Honda CB500X. However, it offers better off-road dynamics than the Honda, that too at a Rs 1.67 lakh lower price. And if you want something in the 650cc segment instead, there’s the Kawasaki Versys 650 and the more off-road centric Suzuki V-Strom 650XT.
