2021 Ducati Hypermotard 950 Revealed, India Launch To Follow

Gets new colours and a greener running engine 

The SP variant of the 950 gets a new livery. Its 937cc L-twin motor now complies with Euro 5 emissions norms. Feature list includes a TFT instrument console, LED lights, electronic aids, and a USB power socket. 

The Ducati Hypermotard 950 has always been the hooligan in the Bologna bikemaker’s portfolio. It received its last update in 2020 when it saw the introduction of a new frame and better ergonomics setup. For 2021, the bike remains largely unchanged, except for a few tweaks to help it comply with the stricter Euro 5/ BS6 emission norms as well as some fresh new colours.   

Nothing’s changed in terms of performance, though, with the Hypermotard continuing to be powered by a 937cc L-twin motor which now complies with Euro 5/BS6 emission norms. The motor has been tuned to belt out 115PS and 95Nm, 3PS more than the 2021 Ducati Monster. The 6-speed transmission, though, is an all-new unit. 

The only other change, so to speak, is the new red/grey/white livery for the 950 SP, inspired by Ducati’s MotoGP Desmosedici GP 21. Additional premium bits on the SP include a full Ohlins suspension, Marchesini wheels, carbon-fibre components, and Ducati’s bi-directional quickshifter. The standard 950 and the 950 RVE remain as is without any updates. All three variants share the same TFT instrument console, LED lights, electronic aids, and a USB power socket.

The bike’s underpinnings include a fully adjustable 45mm Marzocchi USD fork, an adjustable Sachs rear shock, and radially mounted Brembo M4 calipers.

The BS4 Hypermotard 950 was already on sale in India a while back, so it's highly likely for the Italian manufacturer to bring the bike back for 2021. Expect Ducati to price the bike around the Rs 13 lakh mark (ex-showroom) -- Rs 1 lakh pricier than the outgoing model. That said, Ducati may only introduce the bike into the market after it launches the Multistrada V4.
