2021 Jawa 42 2.1 Launched In India
It’s the first Jawa production bike to feature alloy wheels
Costs Rs 6,785 more than 42 dual-channel ABS variant. Gets a host of accessories like windscreen, engine guard, saddle bags etc. Still uses the same 293cc single-cylinder motor but makes 1PS more. The upcoming Jawa 42 2.1 was spotted testing a while back in an almost production-ready avatar. Now, Jawa Motorcycles has launched the updated 42 2.1 at Rs 1,83,942 (ex-showroom Delhi), a premium of Rs 6,785 over the previous dual-channel ABS variant. But, what’s different? Let’s find out.
It doesn’t take a person with eagle eyes to notice the new Jawa 42 has changed its attire. It bids goodbye to its chrome-laden avatar for an all-black theme with black exhausts and black engine casing.
Also part of the package are new bar-end mirrors and alloy wheels with tubeless tyres. The accessory list on the new Jawa offering includes a small tinted visor, engine guard, grab rail and saddle bags. Additionally, customers can choose from three brand-new colour options: Orion Red, Sirius White and AllStar Black.
The changes aren’t only aesthetic, though. The Jawa 42 2.1 gets revised seat cushioning for added comfort as well as an updated seat pan.
Coming to the heart of the matter, the Jawa 42 still uses the same BS6-compliant 293cc single-cylinder motor with a six-speed gearbox. However, Jawa engineers have tweaked its internals. It now makes 27.33PS and 27.02Nm as compared to the previous model’s 26.51PS and 27.05Nm.
Apart from this, not much has changed. The bike still features a seat height of 765mm and it still weighs 172kg, making it one of the lightest bikes in the segment. The braking setup has also remained untouched but the 42 2.1 gets dual-channel ABS as standard.
So, is the price hike justified? Well, to an extent, but features like LED lighting and a more comprehensive instrument cluster would’ve enhanced its appeal.
In the market, the Jawa 42 2.1 goes against the Honda H'ness CB350, the Royal Enfield Classic 350 and the Benelli Imperiale 400.
We recently got a chance to take the new Jawa 42 2.1 for a spin and here’s our first ride review of the 42.
