2021 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R Launched With A Shocking Price Tag

The new Ninja ZX-10R is the most affordable litre-class SBK on sale in India

Kawasaki India has launched the new Ninja ZX-10R in our market. Priced at Rs 14.99 lakh (ex-showroom and introductory), the 2021 Ninja ZX-10R is the most affordable litre-class superbike on sale and that too by quite a margin. The BMW S 1000 RR retails for Rs 19.50 lakh, while the Ducati Panigale V2 is priced at Rs 17.50 lakh.

Coming back to the 2021 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R, it gets an all-new styling for a ‘familiar face’ which we first saw on the Kawasaki Ninja 400. The new styling hasn’t impressed many, including me, and I feel that the flagship superbike should have had a distinct identity. It features a split-LED headlight and integrated winglets, which the brand claims has added 17 percent more downforce compared to its predecessor.

On the mechanical front, Team Green has worked hard to ensure that there’s no power drop in the new BS6-compliant motor. The 998cc, inline-4 engine churns out 203PS (213PS with ram air) and 115NM of torque. With so much muscle in its arsenal, the 2021 Ninja ZX-10R is currently among the most powerful motorcycles on sale in India.

To keep all this might under check, Kawasaki engineers have improved the electronic aids on the new superbike. It gets a Bosch 6-axis IMU-aided electronics package and four riding modes (Rain, Road, Sport, and Custom). The above can be controlled via the new 4.3-inch colour TFT instrument screen (which also features smartphone-connectivity for Kawasaki’s Rideology App). Other than that, the bike still comes loaded with goodies such as multiple-level traction control,  cornering ABS, engine braking control, launch control, quickshifter, and an electronic steering damper from Ohlins.

The 2021 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R competes with the BMW S 1000 RR, Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade, and the soon-to-be-launched Ducati Panigale V4. As we mentioned before, the new Ninja ZX-10R undercuts its rivals by a huge margin, which should work in its favour. We won’t be surprised if it goes on to become the most popular litre-class SBK among Indian riders.
