2021 KTM RC 200 And RC 125 India Launch Confirmed

Modified On Oct 1, 2021 01:08 PM By Pratik Bhanushali for KTM RC 125

[UPDATE: KTM has launched the 2021 RC 125 and RC 200 in India from Rs 1.82 lakh (ex-showroom) onwards. For more details about availability, specifications and other details, read this story]

We all have been waiting for KTM to launch the new RC lineup in India and it seems that the Austrian manufacturer has heard the masses... partly. KTM India has released the first teaser on its social media handles hinting at an imminent launch of the 2021 RC 125 and  RC 200. From our sources, we have found that the new KTM RC 390 will not be making its India debut this year and the Austrian brand will ride in the flagship RC offering by early 2022.

In fact, the new RC 125’s details have already been leaked via an ARAI document. It is powered by a 124.71cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled motor (mated to a 6-speed gearbox) dishing out 14.6PS. The torque is likely to remain the same at 12Nm.

The RC 200 too retains its 200cc liquid-cooled motor that now develops 25.8PS and 19.5Nm (0.8PS and 0.3Nm more than before).

KTM has given the new RC range an extensive design makeover. The fascia looks a bit polarising and now sports an LED headlight with DRLs. Overall, the bikes seem more accommodating than their predecessors.

Apart from the looks, the company has also altered the chassis, wheels and brakes for weight reduction. The India-spec version of the RC 125 and the RC 200 are expected to face some cost-cutting. For reference, other markets get both bikes with a TFT display and Bluetooth connectivity, but we will have to make do with an LCD display. You can read in depth about the updated KTM RC range here

We expect KTM to price the 2021 RC 125 around Rs 1.87 lakh and the new RC 200 at around Rs 2.15 lakh (ex-showroom). The festive season is around the corner and KTM is likely to launch the bikes by the end of October. The KTM RC 125 will compete with the recently launched Yamaha R15 V4, while the RC 200 doesn’t have any direct rival, although the Suzuki Gixxer 250 SF is priced similarly.
