2021 Triumph Street Twin Unveiled; India Launch Soon

Modified On Feb 23, 2021 05:30 PM By Zaran Mody for Triumph Speed Twin 900

The update includes new colours and other minor updates

With the imminent arrival of the Triumph Trident 660, the mighty Street Twin will lose its place as the most affordable Triumph on sale. Nevertheless, the good ol’ Twin has firmly stamped its place in the British manufacturer’s lineup and is sure to remain popular even after the launch of the Trident. To help keep it fresh, Triumph has updated the Street Twin for 2021, albeit very subtly.

The most apparent change is the new blue colour scheme that you see here. Called Cobalt Blue, it replaces the previous Korosi Red option and will be sold alongside the continuing Jet Black and Matt Ironstone paint jobs. Triumph has also addressed the current bike’s complaints about seat comfort by adding extra foam to the slightly stepped bench seat. As a result, seat height is up by 5mm but still remains extremely accessible, at just 765mm.

Drawing inspiration from the larger Speed Twin, the Street’s side panels now feature a couple of mesh windows, and Triumph has also redesigned the throttle body covers. That just about sums up the changes on the 2021 Street Twin, considering the delicious 900cc parallel-twin motor continues to thump out 65PS at 7500rpm and 80Nm at 3800rpm (100rpm higher than before). The status quo has been maintained on the chassis front as well -- the same double downtube frame, same Brembo caliper and single disc up front, and unchanged suspension components.

All in all, the 2021 Street Twin is much the same bike as the BS6-compliant version sold here in 2020, which means that prices shouldn’t go up by too much when the updated bike launches in April. Expect a premium of around Rs 10,000 to 15,000 over the current sticker price of Rs 7.45 lakh to Rs 7.58 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

That was the party. Now welcome to the afterparty.

Like most afterparties, it’s limited only to a select few, and it’s called the Gold Line. Triumph will produce only 1000 of these special edition Street Twins, a handful of which shall make their way to India. Making it special is the matte black paint scheme, complete with ivory white tank recesses and hand-painted gold coachlines that give this version its name. To top things off, the logos and rim tape are in gold as well. This version will arrive at a later date and at an unknown premium over the standard bike.
