Modified On Nov 26, 2021 02:00 PM By Manaal Mahatme for Ducati Panigale V4

Everything, from the aerodynamics to the ergonomics and mechanicals, have been tweaked

Gets improved aerodynamics and revised bodywork. New gearbox has led to a 5kmph boost in top speed. MotoGP-inspired layout for the instrument console. The 1103cc Desmosedici Stradale now makes 215PS and 123.6Nm.

In the latest episode of the ongoing 2022 Ducati World Premiere, the Italian marque has pulled the wraps off the 2022 Panigale V4. The flagship supersport from the Borgo Panigale has undergone numerous changes, in what Ducati deems is the "most significant evolution since its birth".

The most apparent change to the 2022 Ducati Panigale V4 is updated bodywork and new graphics. The winglets are now more compact, but the double-profile design ensures the same (30kg at 300kmph) downforce as the previous model. Ducati has updated the lower fairing with two air slits to keep the improved Desmosedici Stradale powerhouse cool.

With the improved cooling, Ducati has reworked the internals of the 1103cc V4 engine by upgrading the lubrication circuit and the oil pump to reduce power losses. Furthermore, the exhaust back pressure has been reduced by increasing the diameter of the exhaust outlet, and the result is a 1.5PS bump up in power over the previous iteration. The Panigale V4 now belts out 215PS at 13,000rpm and 123.6Nm at 9500rpm.

Even the 6-speed gearbox has been upgraded for the 2022 Panigale V4. The first and second gears are now taller, allowing for better engine braking, driveability through the corners, and acceleration when shooting out of corners. Even the sixth gear is now a tad taller, which has improved the bike's top speed by 5kmph.

Complementing this is the improved electronic suite of the 2022 Panigale V4, including the four engine configurations: Full, High, Medium, and Low. While 'full' allows you to exploit the most from the engine and even shut off the electronic nannies, the 'low' configuration restricts the power to 150PS. The 'high' and 'medium' configurations get a new ride-by-wire management system.

Another highlight is the updated instrument console with a new ‘Track Evo’ layout. This mode has dedicated colours highlighting the electronic aid engaged in real-time to help the rider understand his riding style better. Then there’s a new green-coloured LED light on top of the console to indicate gear shifts.

The 2022 Panigale V4 S benefits from the new Öhlins NPX 25/30 electronically controlled pressurised fork. Its 125mm fork travel is 5mm more than the one on the previous Panigale. The springs are softer for better control over bad roads and aggressive braking. At the rear, the V4 S gets an Öhlins TTX36 rear shock absorber.

Taking care of braking are Brembo Stylema calipers paired with twin 330mm discs up front. At the rear, a 245mm disc with a 2-piston caliper does the job. The standard V4 continues to use the same suspension and braking equipment as the older model.

The 2022 Ducati Panigale V4 also gets other minor changes like a different tank profile to help the rider grip the tank better, a flatter seat, and a new pivot point (raised by 4mm) for the single-sided swingarm. This new pivot point is claimed to improve the bike's handling.

The new Ducati Panigale V4 and Panigale V4 S will hit the streets starting December 2021, and we can expect the duo to grace the Indian shores by early next year. Currently, the Panigale V4 retails at Rs 23.50 lakh, while the V4 S demands Rs 28.40 lakh (both ex-showroom India). We expect the new bikes to come at a premium of about Rs 1 lakh.
