2022 Kawasaki Versys 650 India Launch Teased

Modified On Jun 27, 2022 11:00 AM By Nishaad for Kawasaki Versys 650

The bike gets a bunch of updates but we suspect they’ll come at a hefty price premium

After bringing out an updated version of the Versys 650 at EICMA 2021, Kawasaki has now teased its India arrival. We had spotted the bike on test a few days ago and we are hoping that the bike arrives within the first week of July itself.

The updated middleweight tourer primarily gets a few new features along with some minor aesthetic changes. The new front fairing on the 2022 Versys 650 looks similar to the bigger Kawasaki Versys 1000. While the rest of the bodywork remains the same, the updated model gets a revised headlight, four-step adjustable flyscreen, a sharp-looking engine cowl and fresh liveries. Mechanically, the updated Versys remains the same as the outgoing model with its 649cc, liquid-cooled, twin cylinder engine dishing out 66PS and 61Nm.

The 2022 Kawasaki Versys will now feature ‘Kawasaki Traction Control’ (KTRC), a two-level traction control system. Having two levels of TC modulation and also the option to switch it off completely should help riders stay better in control of the bike when exploring unknown roads. Doing away with its dated instrument cluster, a new TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity nicely rounds off the new Versys 650’s list of updates.

Usually, new features command a premium, and that’s almost a given. That said, our sources reveal that the Versys could see a price hike of almost Rs 50,000-70,000 along with the update. Note that the 2021 model is priced at Rs 7,15,000 (ex-showroom Delhi).

The Kawasaki Versys 650 is the most comfortable bike for road-biased adventure touring. Other noteworthy options in this segment are Triumph Tiger Sport 660 and the Honda CB500X, offering the same road-focused ride. However, if you’d like a little more off-road ability from your ADV, have a look at the Suzuki V-Strom 650 XT.
