2022 KTM RC 390 Review Photo Gallery

Here’s what we like and dislike about the latest RC 390

KTM finally launched the highly anticipated 2022 RC 390 here in India a couple of weeks ago. While it gets a bunch of upgrades over its predecessor, we find out in what way this supersport is better than the previous model through a series of images.

In terms of appearance, KTM has given the 2022 RC 390 a complete overhaul, and it is sad to say that it does not look as striking as its predecessor. Granted that the supersport features sharp edges and sleek styling, however, the large and heavy front does not go well with the lean and narrow profile, especially at the rear of the bike.

Interestingly, KTM claims that the new design is more aerodynamic, but in everyday use, it will not make much of a difference. Additionally, even the fit and finish on the motorcycle could have been better.

Coming to the engine, we still get segment-leading performance from the 373cc, liquid-cooled motor, which now makes 43.5PS and 37Nm (1Nm more than the outgoing model). KTM claims the acceleration times have been improved, and the engine also feels a lot more composed and versatile as compared to its predecessor.

The engine is eager to rush to the redline, and it delivers power from as early as 4000rpm. The Austrian bikemaker has used a 40 per cent bigger airbox which also improves torque delivery.

While maintaining its sporty nature, KTM has also managed to make the 2022 RC 390 a bit more practical when it comes to everyday riding. This is done via a wider clip-on handlebar, redesigned split (and more cushioned) seat setup and a larger tank to better grip with your knees. These improved ergonomics make this new RC390 easier to handle as well.

Another major upgrade is electronics. The 2022 RC 390’s cornering traction control and ABS work well even when pushed hard, which also increases the rider’s confidence. Even though the quickshifter on the latest RC 390 is not perfect, it is still an upgrade compared to how the quickshifter on the outgoing model performed. That said, the supersport has become a much better track bike with the new upgrades except for the non-adjustable front suspension and the tyres.

Despite being priced at Rs 3,13,922 (ex-showroom Delhi) commanding a hefty premium of Rs 36,287 over its predecessor, and not completely justifying the premium, the 2022 RC 390 is a great bike both on the track and off it.

It should be more practical for daily use, all the while performing like a beast on the track. But, how exactly does it fare in the real world? Stay tuned to BikeDekho for when we do an on-road test review of the bike.
