The body-coloured headlight shroud and distinctive fuel tank extensions make it a head-turner. However, its bold design might change opinions over time, potentially becoming too loud for some riders.

Fit & Finish

The 250 Duke is full of premium components, showcasing sheer sophistication for a 250cc bike. While the 390 Duke-borrowed switchgear exudes quality, the noticeable panel gaps may affect the bike's overall charm, though not its performance.

Engine & Performance

The new engine on the 2024 KTM 250 Duke injects more power and torque compared to the older model, delivering a true thrilling KTM experience. And while the highway runs and corner-carving is really fun, the peaky nature of the engine may not be as exciting at lower revs, making city speeds a rather simple affair.

Featuring a quickshifter, the 250 Duke ensures smooth gear shifts. The new trellis frame and aluminum subframe enhance handling, instilling confidence in corners. However, the rear tyre's grip and slightly softer suspension at the rear pose challenges at high speeds.

Braking

Now, when it comes to braking, this 250cc streetfighter offers adequate performance, but that only comes after a while of riding and needs some getting used to. The Supermoto ABS mode adds versatility, enabling controlled slides by switching off the rear ABS.

Comfort & Features

The bike's dual personality extends to comfort, with a comfortable upper body riding posture. However, taller riders, like me, who is 6’2”, may find the lower body position cramped on longer journeys. And lastly, a simple LCD console, Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, and music control adds a modern and hassle-free touch to the overall appeal of the bike.

The 2024 KTM 250 Duke has evolved into a much more exciting and refined machine, appealing to those seeking KTM's essence without the overwhelming power of the 390 Duke. And despite updates, the modest price hike positions it competitively. However, it is not the most affordable for its pricing, and faces stiff competition from more powerful alternatives like the Triumph Speed 400.
