From supersports to nakeds and even adventure bikes, here are the top five premium bikes launching in 2024!
The premium motorcycle segment in India is all set to get a lot more exciting with a variety of launches coming up, especially in the middleweight segment. Supersports, nakeds and even adventure bikes, there's a lot to be excited about:
Kawasaki Ninja 500
Kawasaki is set to bring the Ninja 500 to India in 2024. Unveiled earlier at the EICMA, the Kawasaki Ninja 500 will replace the current Ninja 400. The faired motorcycle sits on a trellis frame and will get a 451cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine that produces 45.4PS and 42.6Nm, paired with a 6-speed gearbox. The standard variant gets an LCD instrument console with smartphone connectivity, while the top-of-the-line SE variant has a TFT screen with smartphone connectivity via rideology, a USB-C charging port, and keyless ignition. We reckon the Kawasaki Ninja 500 to be available in India at a starting price of Rs 5.90 lakh (ex-showroom).
Honda NX500
The upcoming Honda NX500 is set to replace the outgoing CB500X. Featuring a stylish new design, the NX500 is 3kg lighter than the CB500X at 196kg, thanks in part to its 5-spoked cast aluminium alloy wheels. It shares the 471cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine from the CB500 Hornet, delivering 47.5PS and 43Nm, and comes with a 6-speed gearbox with a slip-and-assist clutch. The bike features a new 5-inch TFT instrument console with smartphone connectivity and switchable traction control.
The NX500 will exclusively be available at Honda's BigWing dealerships. Expected to be priced around Rs 6.5 lakh (ex-showroom), the adventure bike will likely launch in late January or early February 2024, with deliveries set to begin in March.
Yamaha R7 and MT-07
Yamaha will bring the R7 and MT-07 In India, bikes that were showcased at a Chennai dealer event a while ago. Both bikes share a 698cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine, producing 73.4PS and 67Nm, paired with a 6-speed gearbox. While the MT-07 focuses on basic features, the R7 boasts advanced bits, including fully adjustable suspension and an optional quick shifter.
The Yamaha R7 will compete with the Kawasaki Ninja 650, Honda CBR650R, Aprilia RS 660 and the upcoming Triumph Daytona 660 with an expected price of around Rs 10 lakh. The naked bike competes with models like the Kawasaki Z650, Honda CB 650R, Triumph Trident 660, Aprilia Tuono 660, and the Moto Morini Seiemmezzo 6 ½ Retro. The Yamaha MT-07 is likely to be priced at Rs 7.50 lakh (all prices ex-showroom).
Yamaha MT-09
Yamaha is set to launch the MT-09 in India, entering competition with the Triumph Street Triple RS and the Kawasaki Z900 bikes that are currently dominating the naked motorcycle segment. The Yamaha MT-09 boasts a new 899cc liquid-cooled three-cylinder crossplane engine, producing 119PS at 10,000rpm, a bump of 4PS compared to its predecessor's 847cc engine. The expected price of the MT-09 is around Rs 11.50 lakh (ex-showroom).
Triumph Daytona 660
The iconic three-cylinder Triumph Daytona is making a comeback after a long time, this time with the 660cc engine that we’ve seen on the Tiger 660 and Trident 660. Teased across the British brand’s social platforms, the Triumph Daytona 660 bike seems to be aiming for a more comfortable and relaxed riding position, different from the track-focused nature of the previous iterations.
The 660cc liquid-cooled three-cylinder engine produces 81PS and 64Nm, but we expect Triumph to tweak the engine a bit and make it more aggressive to suit the Daytona’s character. Triumph will unveil the Daytona 660 on January 9, 2024. It’s likely to be priced at around Rs 10 lakh in India.
These things said, these are the bikes we think could debut in India and other manufacturers might just surprise us with their premium bikes. Any which way, rest assured that we will be the first ones to bring you the hottest launches from the two-wheeler world!
