5 Used Bikes To Consider Instead Of A Brand New Yamaha MT-15 V2

Modified On May 14, 2023 09:45 AM By Nishaad for Yamaha MT 15 V2.0

Retro roadsters, aggressive streetfighters and even supersports, there’s a lot of variety in this list

The Yamaha MT-15 V2 is hands down one of the best brand new bikes money can buy at its price point (Rs 1,64,900 onwards, ex-showroom Delhi). But if you think the asking price is a bit too steep for what is essentially a 155cc bike, here are five second hand bikes you can consider instead:

1- 2019 Classic 350 | 13k kms | Rs 1,80,000

Slightly less money than what you will be effectively spending for the MT-15 will get you a 2019 Royal Enfield Classic 350. Or should we say it’ll get you THE Classic 350. The bike’s quite literally been a classic both in terms of sales and appeal. Retro bike enthusiasts swear by it and in all honesty, there’s nothing quite like it in this price segment.

So should you buy this instead of the MT-15? If you love your bikes old school, definitely! Sure,it lacks the top-end performance and isn’t exactly very high on features, but it promises an authentic and easy-going single cylinder feel.

2- 2022 Yezdi Roadster | 8k kms | Rs 1,70,000

We found the Yezdi Roadster to be quite a fun and engaging bike to ride when we tested it. Most importantly, it’s a characterful bike and loves hustling around. All of this comes with an old-school roadster design that does look pretty nice.

So if cruiser-esque motorcycles are your thing but you find something like the Royal Enfield Meteor 350 a bit too thanda and don’t mind the authentic cruiser ergonomics, the Roadster does make a lot of sense for you. Even more so considering that this will cost you Rs 10,000-15,000 less than the MT-15’s on-road price.

3- 2020 Bajaj Dominar 400 | 12k kms | Rs 1,72,500

40PS and 35Nm for Rs 1.72 lakh sounds like a pretty good deal, especially for the spec-sheet obsessed lot. And the Bajaj Dominar 400 is a pretty decent tourer. It’s comfortable and can cruise at high speeds effortlessly. Add to that the accessories that Bajaj offers and you've got a pretty nice tourer. So if you’ve mile-munching ambitions, it’s hard to beat the Dominar 400 at this price point.

4- 2017 KTM 390 Duke | 48k kms | Rs 1.80 lakh

What do we even say about this bike? India’s one of the most affordable performance-oriented bike, the KTM 390 Duke stands unrivalled in its segment, even nearly 10 years after its launch. Loaded with a mad engine and proper streetfighter looks, it’s hands-down the best of its kind in the sub 500cc segment.

So if you love your bikes thoroughly modern, aggressive and fast, it doesn’t get any better than this orange pocket rocket. It’s essentially an MT-15 but dialled up to eleven!

5- 2020 TVS Apache RR 310 | 9.7k kms | Rs 1.85 lakh

But if the KTM’s performance is a bit overwhelming for you, as it can be for many, there’s the TVS Apache RR 310 to your rescue. It packs an engine that’s not all that behind the KTM’s, a lot more features and extremely grippy Michelin Road 5 tyres. All of this packed in a bodywork that’s drop dead gorgeous. The Apache RR 310 truly is a looker.

So if you’re looking for a sport tourer that can also handle the occasional track rides, the Apache RR 310 is a bike you should definitely consider, especially given the price this one asks.
