750cc Liquid-Cooled Royal Enfield Bike Incoming?

Modified On Jul 4, 2023 05:21 PM By Irfan

The new engine will reportedly power a bobber first, followed by what we believe could be an adventure bike, and perhaps a cafe racer too

Royal Enfield has been moving on to the higher-end of the mid-sized capacity segment for the past five years. Starting with the launch of the Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650 in 2018 (a huge success globally for the manufacturer since then) to the upcoming launch of the Classic 650 and the Shotgun 650 bobber sometime next year. And now Royal Enfield is reportedly also working on a new 750cc platform.

According to a publication, the manufacturer is working on a new platform with the codename R, which will help produce different kinds of 750cc motorcycles. The first of the lot is reportedly a 750cc bobber with the codename R2G. This new motorcycle will likely be a higher-capacity take on the SG650 concept (Shotgun 650 bobber) showcased at 2021 EICMA

If Royal Enfield is working on a 750cc engine, then we think it will be a liquid-cooled parallel-twin unit. Because the 650cc powertrain itself is massive and unwieldy, making a liquid-cooled mill will ensure it’s much more compact and lighter than the 650cc heart. And with the added power and torque from the bigger capacity motor, the 750cc engine will also be a good option for other types of motorcycles, say a Himalayan 750. Or even a fully-faired high-performance cafe racer for that matter.

With the current Royal Enfield lineup starting at Rs 1,49,900 and maxing out at Rs 3,84,845 (both ex-showroom), the 750cc motorcycles will definitely take the brand to a more higher-end of the market, especially in developed countries. With a liquid-cooled engine, the 750cc motorcycles will feel more modern with a combination of the traditional Royal Enfield retro characteristics. As such, it will allow current Royal Enfield owners to upgrade to higher-capacity motorcycles and also move from the retro to neo-retro category of bikes.
