Bookings for the mid-displacement sportbike begins from today, October 12, 2020
The Aprilia RS 660 borrows its styling cues from the RSV4. Gets LED lights all around, a full-digital console, and electronics rider aids. It’s powered by a 659cc, parallel-twin engine. Comes in three colour schemes: Lava Red, Black Apex, and Acid Gold.Every motorcycle enthusiast has been eagerly waiting for the launch of the mid-displacement Aprilia RS 660, a bike that was first displayed in its concept form at EICMA back in 2018. The RS 660 now draws closer to its official launch by making its debut in the international market. Aprilia has also started accepting bookings for the sportbike via its official site aprilia.com/en_EN/aprilia-rs-660.
The RS 660 may take its design cues from the RSV4 1100, but it looks a lot sleeker than its older sibling. The bike also features an aerodynamically designed fairing, LED lights all around, and a full-digital instrument console. There are three colour options on offer: Lava Red, Black Apex, and Acid Gold.
It’s powered by a Euro 5-compliant 659cc, parallel-twin engine that belts out 100PS at 10,500rpm and 67Nm of peak torque at 8,500rpm. The motor uses a 6-speed transmission with a bi-directional quickshifter. The RS 660 isn’t short on rider aids either: it gets traction, wheelie and cruise control along with cornering ABS and five riding modes - Commute, Individual, Dynamic, Challenge, and Time Attack. Interestingly, the latter two (Challenge and Time Attack) can be customised as per the rider’s usage. It’s meant purely for experienced riders looking to hit the race track.
The bike packs a decent set of hardware which includes a 41-mm Kayaba USD fork and a monoshock, both with preload and rebound adjustability. Anchoring the bike are twin 320mm discs up front mated to radially mounted Brembo calipers and a single 220mm disc at the rear.
The Aprilia RS is an all-new 659cc platform which will branch into the naked streetfighter segment with the Tuono 660. It will also spawn a Tuareg 660 Adventurer and a track-spec RS Trofeo 660.
Prices are expected to begin at £10,149, which translates to approximately Rs 9.67 lakh in India. The RS 660 is expected to be launched in India 2021 and imported via the CBU (Completely Built Units) route. Once launched, the Aprilia RS 660 will compete against the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R, the upcoming Triumph Daytona 765 and the 2021 Honda CBR650RR.
