Aprilia RS440 Riding Posture, Design Details Revealed
This is the third time the bike has been spotted on Indian roads
This year brings an overhaul to the sub-500cc performance motorcycle category, with a series of recent launches and more anticipated in the near future. Among these, the soon-to-arrive Aprilia RS440 has once again been spied in India.
The motorcycle's towards being production ready is evident, which was also spotted abroad in July 2023. Ergonomics-wise, it gets a slightly forward-leaning posture coupled with elevated clip-on handlebars and rear-set footpegs. This stance closely resembles that of the KTM RC 390. Built upon a twin-spar frame, the RS440 boasts an underbelly exhaust and split-seat arrangement, features also captured in a previous instance when it was spied.
It is expected to be powered by a high-revving 440cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine. The RS440 is set to be equipped with ride-by-wire technology, traction control, cornering ABS, and a quickshifter. Its premium attributes encompass a USD fork and monoshock setup, an aluminum swingarm, lightweight alloy wheels, and dual discs with a radial front brake caliper.
The sleek twin-LED headlight configuration coupled with the fairing design lends the bike the appearance of a downsized Aprilia RS440. It is expected to get TFT instrument cluster with smartphone connectivity. Notably, the test prototype sports an imposing and somewhat awful-looking saree guard, reminiscent of those seen on Kawasaki motorcycles.
The Aprilia RS440 is likely to come to India in April 2024 with a price tag of around Rs 4 lakh (ex-showroom). It will contend against rivals such as the KTM RC 390 and Kawasaki Ninja 400.
