Apart from the upcoming Ather Rizta, the EV maker is also working on electric motorcycles, the first of which is planned to be launched by around 2027-2029. In an interview, Chief Business Officer, Ravneet Phokela said that the brand is planning on coming up with electric motorcycles in the next three to five years.

Earlier in 2019, Ravneet Phokela said that Ather Energy was working on an electric motorcycle and would be launching it in 3-4 years. But it seems like there were a lot of changes in their plans, aside from issues caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and subsidy reduction.

Since 2019, we saw the EV maker launching the Ather 450S, then the Ather Apex 450 and now it is working on the Ather Rizta family electric scooter. The brand had recently dropped a teaser of the same showing it travelling through knee deep water. With so much happening, it is not surprising that the e-bike’s launch has been delayed.

The electric bike from Ather is likely to be a sporty commuter that could offer performance similar to a 150cc petrol powered bike. If Ather indeed ends up making such a sporty commuter, it will have to price it at around Rs 2 lakh (ex-showroom). It’s also important to note that by the time the first Ather electric bike is launched, the EV industry would’ve done away with subsidies.
