Bajaj Platina 110 H Gear: 5 Things To Know

Published On Jun 5, 2019 09:46 AM By Gaurav Sadanand for Bajaj Platina 110 H Gear

From segment-first features to new prices, here's everything you need to know about the new Platina 110 in five points

Bajaj has launched the Platina 110 H Gear at Rs 53, 376 (ex-showroom, Delhi). It’s offered in two variants which get a couple of extra features compared to the outgoing model, including a ‘Gear-Shift-Guide’ to a front disc brake. Here’s everything you need to know about the updated Platina 110 H Gear.

Design and features:

The Platina 110 was recently updated with CBS (combined braking system) which helps it comply with the recent government safety norms. Now though, Bajaj has upped the ante with a couple of extra features like a semi-digital instrument console and a quilt pattern seat which gives the bike a premium feel.  The console also gets a couple of extra goodies in the form of a gear shift and position, low battery and service due indicator aside from a clock, odometer, fuel gauge and two trip meters. Though the overall design of the bike remains pretty much the same, there are subtle changes in the body graphics.

H Gear:

The most unique feature about the updated Platina 110 has to be the addition of H Gear. It’s essentially a ‘Gear-Shift-Guide’ or a gear assist indicator which not only displays the gear you’re in, but also prompts you to upshift or downshift for better fuel efficiency. Notably, this feature isn’t even available on more expensive motorcycles like the Discover or Pulsar range, in Bajaj’s portfolio.

The same engine with an additional gear:

The bike is powered by the same 115cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that produces 8.7PS and a peak torque of 9.8Nm. While the heart of the bike remains the same, it now benefits from an extra gear which should improve its highway fuel efficiency. This makes it the only bike in the segment with a 5-speed transmission.

It gets a larger front disc:

It’s the first bike in the Platina range to feature an optional 236mm front disc brake. This, paired with a 130mm rear drum brake should allow for better braking performance compared to its rivals. Its suspension setup comprises of a telescopic fork and twin nitrox shock absorbers at the rear.

Receives a price bump:

The Bajaj Platina 110 H Gear is available in two variants - drum, priced at Rs 53, 376 and the disc version which retails for Rs 55,373 (ex-showroom Delhi). That’s a price bump of a little over Rs 2,600 for the standard model, while the new disc variant is a little over Rs 4,600 more expensive than the outgoing bike. In terms of competition, the Platina 110 H Gear rivals the TVS Star City Plus, Honda Dream Yuga and the Hero Splendor iSmart Plus IBS 110
