Bajaj Pulsar 150 Spied With ABS

Modified On Sep 21, 2018 11:50 AM By Niraj Kakade for Bajaj Pulsar 150

The safety update is expected to follow suit to other Bajaj bikes above 125cc as well

As per the ABS mandate kicking in from April 2019, manufacturers are required to update their existing motorcycles above 125cc with ABS. Not surprising then, bikemakers have already started working behind the scenes, including Bajaj, who was recently spied testing the recently launched rear disc variant of the Pulsar 150, with ABS. However, the standard Pulsar 150 too is expected to come with this safety net. Speaking of which, expect to see a single-channel ABS unit here.

Spy shots of the motorcycle have surfaced online, confirming the addition of the safety feature. Other than this, the motorcycle features some subtle cosmetic changes, including a new set of graphics and a belly pan. We don’t expect to see any changes in the engine department, which is a 149cc air-cooled, single-cylinder engine. This motor churns out 14PS of power at 8000rpm and 13.4Nm of torque at 6000rpm, mated to a 5-speed transmission.

Suspension duties on the rear disc variant are taken care of by chunkier telescopic forks derived from the Pulsar 180 at the front and twin gas-charged shocks at the rear. Braking duties, meanwhile, are handled by a 260mm front disc and 230mm rear disc. The standard variant on the other hand, gets a 240mm front disc and a 130mm rear drum.

The Bajaj Pulsar Classic 150 is priced at Rs 67,448, while the Standard (dual-tone Classic variant) and Twin Disc variants are priced at Rs 74,125 and Rs 78,515 respectively (ex-showroom Delhi). We can expect to see a hike of around Rs 5,000 to Rs 8,000 over the current prices, once the update comes through. Bajaj is also expected to update its Discover, V range and Avenger lineup with ABS in the coming months. The Bajaj Pulsar 150 goes against the Honda CB Unicorn 150, the Hero Xtreme Sports and the Hero Achiever.
