Bajaj Pulsar 180 ABS Spotted At Dealership

Modified On Jan 6, 2019 10:52 PM By Mallikarjun Pillai for Bajaj Pulsar 180

The Pulsar 180 is the latest bike in Bajaj’s line-up to be spotted with ABS

Bajaj Pulsar 180 will get single-channel ABS with rear-wheel lift mitigation (RLM). Likely to carry a premium of around Rs 8000 to Rs 10000 over the non-ABS variant. Launch expected in January 2019.

After the Avenger 220 ABS, it's the Bajaj Pulsar 180 ABS that has now been spotted at dealerships. Leaked images show the bike featuring speed sensors on both wheels. However, the ABS unit on the Pulsar 180 will be a single-channel unit aided by a rear wheel lift mitigation (RLM) system. An RLM system prevents the rear wheel from lifting off under hard or emergency braking. It works alongside the ABS and uses a gyro sensor to detect if the rear wheel is about to lift off, in which case pressure on the front brake is eased.

Bajaj could price the Pulsar 180 ABS at a premium of Rs 8000 to Rs 10,000 over its non-ABS variant, which is currently priced at Rs 85,523 (ex-showroom Delhi). Apart from the addition of ABS, the rest of the Pulsar 180’s mechanicals will remain the same. This means the bike will continue to be powered by a 178.6cc single-cylinder, air-cooled, DTS-i engine that produces 17PS of power and 14.2Nm of torque, mated to a 5-speed transmission. The rest of the Pulsar 180 ABS’ design and underpinnings too will be carried over from the standard bike.

Bajaj Avenger 220 ABS Launched

When launched, the Pulsar 180 will comply with the safety regulations that mandate ABS for all two-wheelers above 125cc. The new regulations are set to be enforced from 1 April 2019 onwards and Bajaj is expected to update its entire product line-up well before the deadline. In keeping with that, a launch date of January 2019 for the Pulsar 180 ABS looks likely. The bike’s chief competitor is the TVS Apache RTR 180. However, unlike the Pulsar 180, the RTR 180 gets a proper dual-channel ABS option.
